So, you seem to be calling for "consequences" for 50% of the country supporting Trump if we don't see the error of our ways and "repent." Hmm, I'm not a fascist and I love the Constitution and this Country but you just might turn me into one if I know your side is coming after me once the Republicans cede power. Are you intending to go all ANC and seize our property to give to the "poor"; imprison us in reeducation camps like Mao or Pol Pot?; or simply remove our heads like the Jacobins?

Trump is addressing big city crime (largely ignored by both sides) not starting a civil war.
I have yet to see a response for my actual question. If your answer is that you deserve no consequences should Trump tear the nation fully apart, as he has more or less promised to do and is obviously doing, then you will have no standing to complain about the consequences that will be imposed. Because the idea that you deserve no consequences is as farcical as "just following orders."

I really wish you would read this report -- https://mecklenburghousingdata.org/...FCM-Executive-Summary-Report-2020_Digital.pdf

There is no absolute solution to homelessness. But some strategies work much better than others. And "giving a druggie guy a house" is shockingly effective compared to the alternatives.
Seems like a worthwhile program with an obviously competent screening process for applicants. You should send it to Newsom’s office so that California can better spend its 24B on homelessness.

Tunnel to Towers and other organizations are building houses for homeless veterans as well.

This is a message board and we all spout our opinions. Some turn out to be wrong some are right. It's my opinion that Trump will not send the National Guard to Chicago if not requested by the mayor or governor. I could be wrong in that the situation could change. If there's rioting and federal buildings and employees need protection then he could. Likewise, if people start interfering with ICE conducting its business and it receives no assistance from the local police.

If you want to turn this board into a betting site for political predictions then I may need to reconsider some of my predictions. Half the board has opined that we won't have a Presidential election in 2028 and that Trump will remain in power as a dictator - ending our democracy. Others predict a civil war and a permanent division of this country. Still others predicted the collapse of the stock market. Have any of these posters offered to put $10k in a ZZL escrow account? I don't think so. Those are much bolder predictions, with much greater consequences, than my little prediction that Trump won't send the guard to Chicago.

I don't care about the specific prediction about sending the guard to Chicago. I'm interested in the larger prediction that he's doing this only to fight crime and homelessness. But really, the prediction isn't really the issue.

The difference between you and the other examples is that nobody here is actually supporting a stock market crash. Nor the prediction that there won't be elections. Those are doomsaying. Those are the predictions of a dystopia that we want to avoid. Those are the reasons to oppose Trump, given that he shows ALL the signs of being an authoritarian and no signs of anything else.

You, on the other hand, support Trump. That is, you are actively cheering what he is doing. If he goes full fascist, then you will have contributed to that in a way that none of the doomsaying posters have done. If he goes full fascist -- many would argue that he already has, with some persuasiveness -- you will have ignored the many, many warnings and been a cheerleader and supporter all the way. Why shouldn't you have to answer for that? Why should we give you and your ilk yet another chance to destroy the country?

This would be true on the left as well, but of course, there is no precedent for Trump anywhere on the left, save possibly the extreme fringe (and even then it's debatable). Nobody in history has run roughshod over our system of government like Trump has. No DOJ in history has been as mendacious in court. No administration has been as corrupt, and it's not even close. No administration ever has committed itself to a policy of "always lie" and certainly none have approached Trump's level of bullshit fascistic propaganda.

Why should you get another chance to ruin democracy, given that you tried once and failed and then tried again and in this narrative, succeeded?

Where do you think Charlotte got the idea? You obviously have no idea what California has been doing to combat homelessness. Some of it has worked well, some of it less well, but again, the root problem is the giant sucking sound of money being pulled out of CA and redistributed to GA, among other places.

I would counter that the 2nd term Obama Admin and the Biden Admin politicized DOJ, CIA and FBI. The Russian collusion hoax, the Hunter Biden laptop suppression, the perfect call to Z leading to the 1st Impeachment and the lawfare against Trump - coordinated with State AGs and DAs. The FBI went after grandmas and mothers praying outside abortion clinics, parents protesting school boards for a trans attack and conservative, Latin Catholics.

To this point, from WAY before Charlotte adopted the concept -- https://www.hcd.ca.gov/grants-funding/active-funding/docs/housing-first-fact-sheet.pdf

Ram's ignorance of housing initiatives and contempt for the homeless community has to be willful for someone who has lived in Buckhead for the last few decades.

And this is why I'm asking you to put some skin in the game. If you actually had to defend this nonsense, if anything in your life depended on it, you would be singing a different tune.

You know who did "the perfect call"? It was Trump. And it was plainly impeachment worthy and he should have been removed then and there. No Democratic president -- or any other president for that matter -- has tried to hold American foreign policy hostage for personal gain, and it's intolerable. The president's job is to "faithfully execute the law." There is no exception that says, "unless the president sees no personal benefit from doing so."

There was no Russian collusion "hoax" and in an ideal world, anyone who uses that characterization should be summarily disbarred.

They did not go after people "praying" outside abortion clinics. They went after the zealots who were committing serious federal crimes under the FACE Act. You wouldn't stand for people using violence and intimidation to prevent gun shops from operating. You wouldn't stand for repeated targeted violence, including multiple murders, against gun shop proprietors.

Who was president during the "Hunter Biden laptop" suppression? Do you know? And regardless, do you think that is remotely equivalent to pardoning 1600 violent insurrectionists? Or flouting court orders? Or deportations without due process? Or pretextual imprisonment of people exercising their first amendment rights? Or firing commissioners of independent agencies? Or stealing grant money from recipients? Or trying to take control over the curricula of American universities? Or attacking law firms that did nothing wrong?

[Note: if you think it's cool to go after law firms for political reasons, get ready to lose your license, son. Or does that only work for lawyers you don't like? ]

Is the Hunter Biden laptop a threat to the Republic in the way that, say, using the military to go after American citizens on American soil is? What about the complete disregard for the laws? Was Trump allowed to just ignore the TikTok law? He was not. He did it anyway.

How many Federal dollars has California burned on that stupid train to nowhere? It's a national embarrassment and ONE of the reasons (homeless problem is another) Newsom will never be elected President.

"faithfully execute the law."

It was, at most, a two week delay in delivery of the weapons. He executed the law.

Guess you give Biden a pass for refusing to enforce ANY border laws during his four years while repeatedly declaring that the border was "secure." Also, what about all the Dem mayors who proclaim their cities as "sanctuary cities" and refuse to enforce Federal immigration laws?

It's the main reason Trump got re elected. He promised to enforce the law by securing the border and deporting illegals.

$14B. To put that in perspective, it is less than 1% of the money that has been extracted from California by the "heartland" states.

But hey, why bother with high speed rail and other modern technologies? Let's get rid of wind, solar, geothermal and go back to coal. That is literally your guy's plan. You are taking America back a full century, and coal is a disgusting fuel that actually costs more money than it benefits. The societal return to mining and burning coal is actually negative.

I don't believe you are actually concerned about homelessness in California. I think you are just looking for things to complain about because you can't remotely defend what Trump is doing.

To you, politics is just a game and that is what makes you so loathsome. Real people's lives are affected by this shit, often powerfully. No amount of Russia hoax and California water bullshit can mask the fact that you support crimes committed against innocent people.

1. It was not a two-week delay by Trump's choice. JOHN BOLTON ordered the delivery when Trump wasn't paying attention, and then the matter went public. You don't get to say, "I complied with the law" when you do so only after being discovered.

2. You can repeat right-wing bullshit all day long, but it doesn't make it true. It is indisputably the case that Biden followed the law on immigration, and indisputably the case that Trump didn't and doesn't. Whether you like it or not, parole is an integral part of our immigration system, as we have not nearly enough capacity to detain everyone who comes to seek asylum.

And the law says that anybody who requests asylum with credible fear SHALL BE GRANTED A HEARING. That's US law. It's international law. It's in multiple treaties. If you want the hearings to take place faster, then allocate more money for it. You know, like Congress was about to do until Trump killed the thing Lankford had spent so much time negotiating.

3. Why is it that you make so many errors of law? Like, almost everything you say about law is wrong. For instance, sanctuary cities are expressly permitted by the 10th Amendment. In fact, it was Scalia, if I recall correctly, who made it so. And of course, the reason that virtually all cities are so-called sanctuary cities is that it is good policy.

I have tried SO MUCH to give you the benefit of the doubt, Ram. But when it comes to Trump (no pun intended), you just keep 1756934572817.gif
