I was kind of surprised he pardoned them. Vance made similar statements. I would have thought all of Trump's nominee's and his VP would have been on the same page with him. Maybe it was a trial balloon. Vance got booed when he said Trump likely wouldn't pardon anyone who attacked a police officer.

Hegseth Routinely Passed Out from Alcohol Abuse, Witness Says

Trump’s Pentagon pick has denied allegations, calling them part of a ‘smear campaign’

“Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s pick to run the Pentagon, regularly abused alcohol to the point that he passed out at family gatherings, and once needed to be dragged out of a strip club while in uniform, according to an ex-relative’s account of his behavior that was given to U.S. lawmakers and reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The sworn statement, submitted in response to a request from Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, was signed by Hegseth’s former sister in law, Danielle Hegseth. It states that she was with Hegseth when he passed out from drunkenness in the bathroom of a bar in Minneapolis in about 2013. It also describes another night, when she said Hegseth drank so much at a restaurant in Minneapolis that the Uber driver had to pull over on Interstate 94 so he could throw up.

In the sworn statement, Hegseth’s former sister-in-law also said that Hegseth’s ex-wife, Samantha, told her that she once hid from Hegseth in a closet because she feared for her personal safety, sometime between 2014 and 2016.

She said that Samantha had a “code word” with her and another person close to her and that Samantha had made a plan in case she needed to get away from Hegseth. Danielle Hegseth said that Samantha texted the code to her in 2015 or 2016. She said the code meant that she should call the other person to fly out to Minnesota to help Samantha, which Danielle said she did. …”

That code word story is a serious allegation — long term fear generating a safety plan, not just that one night he was scary drunk (which would be bad enough, but not indicative of a pattern).

It’s likely Trump doesn’t actually know exactly what his Sharpie was doing when he signed his name. There’s no way he understood or even read the EOs. Someone wrote them, gave him a synopsis free of nuance or implications, and he signed and preened before the cameras.

I don't think it would have mattered if they both would have known and advised against it. trump was going to do what he wanted because not pardoning all is an admission that there was some culpability.

I don't know about that. Even Trump made comments a few weeks back that there may be exceptions for radicals and crazies.

I suspect that a few of those guys will go down like the pizza guy or worse and it will hurt Trump.

Maybe you are right, but I think in order for him to look as blameless as possible to his base he had to let them all go to continue the rouse.

Didn’t the pizza guy get shot and killed by police a few weeks ago?

Senate Questionnaire Sheds Light on F.B.I. Pick’s Early Years

In the form, Kash Patel said he had participated in an American Bar Association program that promotes diversity. He also played down his role in the Benghazi investigation.

“… A spokesman for Mr. Patel, one of relatively few people of color to be selected for top administration positions, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

That he availed himself of such a program as an ethnic minority would be unexceptional had not Mr. Trump made attacking diversity, equity and inclusion programs in academia and government a core element of his pitch to voters.

On Day 1 of his second term, Mr. Trump announced an executive order ending D.E.I. programs in the federal government, which he has denounced as “Marxist” and racist. The F.B.I. has taken pre-emptive action, quietly closing its own D.E.I. office in December. …”

So, your theory is that some of the J6 VIOLENT criminals will commit violent crimes after Trump pardoned them; and, that by committing violent crimes after Trump’s pardon, that will harm Trump?
