Totally fair. Stephen Miller being top of that list for me, personally.Agree on the general, blanket wish. There are some individuals that I would not be sad if they lost a lot.
Well, subleasing is a possibility (depending on market).corporate leases are not year to year. Many are 10+ years. So, until those leases run out (and Covid really hit the USA less than 5 yeas ago), they aren't going to save or waste anything. They are bound.
The production stuff is a farce. Stop parroting it.
I would assume at least a few of those corporate leases were not signed on the day of the covid outbreak. Even some of the 10-year leases may have been signed a day or two before and probably at least one lease was signed more than 5 years before. I think there might be a lease out there that is expiring or has already expired.corporate leases are not year to year. Many are 10+ years. Hence my point of seeing how RTO changes over the next 5 years.I would assume at least a few of those corporate leases were not signed on the day of the covid outbreak. True. Gotta imagine that's hard to do these days. I mean the amount of vacant office space in RTP is wild.Well, subleasing is a possibility (depending on market).
well, actually.....statistically speaking, 10-20% of them were gay.Straight White Christians made the modern, (liberal) western society and founded this liberal Democracy. Go to Gaza or Iran if you disagree.
Yes. And a lot of government space isn’t that good. But with Elon making the entire world go back to the office, maybe the commercial market will pick up.True. Gotta imagine that's hard to do these days. I mean the amount of vacant office space in RTP is wild.
Agree. Abracadabra was a terrible song.Totally fair. Stephen Miller being top of that list for me, personally.
Musk's purchase of Twitter has been very successful from a propaganda standpoint. Not so much from a making money standpoint. Why in God's name does anyone think reusing the strategy Elon employed for Twitter is a good idea here? Elon has driven that company into the freaking ground.

See X's value plummet 72% in one chart
Elon Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, is now worth just $12.5 billionqz.com
Elon Musk purchased X, formerly known as Twitter, in October 2022 for $44 billion. Since then, its value has plunged 71.5%.
In late 2023, a leaked memo from the social media platform showed that X valued itself at less than half its initial value—just $19 billion. Around the same time, Fidelity, the mutual fund giant that helped Musk purchase X, marked down the value of its shares in the privately-held company even more, putting its value somewhere between $15 and $16 billion.
According to a new disclosure obtained by Axios, Fidelity has written down its shares yet again—implying that as of November 2023, X is worth just $12.5 billion. The valuation includes a steep 10.7% drop in November.
This is exactly what’s going to happen. They’ve staffed the office of personnel management with Musk and Andreessen acolytes for this purpose.Bingo. As I've said before, they've set this up as a classic rug-pull. Make employees think they're being offered severance to not work, when in fact they are not being fully let out of work. My guess is many employees who take this deal will get some random email at 2 in the morning in a couple weeks asking them to send all their files to someone at OMB by 8 AM the next morning, then when they don't do it they will be informed that they violated the terms of their severance so they don't get paid anymore. That's if Musk and the Trump admin even intend to pay them any "severance" at all, which I doubt (and as Schumer has noted it's not clear the admin can even legally do),
A move straight out of the sleazy tech startup CEO playbook. Government workers should listen to what former Twitter employees say about the "severance" they were offered.
They did but only because they had all the power. It was also straight white Christians who fought against the Revolution because they had all the power on the other side as well. It's because of their limited and selfish POVs that we have all these endemic problems.Straight White Christians made the modern, (liberal) western society and founded this liberal Democracy. I don't agree. I mean, I get and agree with your point and I'm not criticizing you. But to say straight white Christians "made the modern liberal western society" is about as historically inaccurate and ideologically blindered as you can get. It's also obviously racist, but that's among the least of the problems with that statement. I seriously question the education and cultural literacy of anyone who doesn't recognize the vital role of non-white, non-Christian communities in making the "modern liberal western society."They did but only because they had all the power. It's interesting how some see all government employees as untalented.Perhaps learn how to spell before calling others untalented?
If we're talking about the US in particular, there was a time in our country's past where there were only Christians (90+%) around to do everything. So, while they built the bridges and buildings, they also committed 90% of the robberies, murders, domestic abuse, etc.Straight White Christians made the modern, (liberal) western society and founded this liberal Democracy. Well, you're there. Mentor them! The people who are losing out the most from WFH arrangements are the recent college grads. My company has been trying to lure people back to the office for the last year without having a formal mandate, and when you go in you just see a sea of young 20 somethings. This generation of recent college grads have gotten little to no mentorship from the more senior members of their teams who have lavish setups at home where they can crank out work at a record rate without having to waste time commuting... or having those pesky kids push their way into their offices for advice.
Yeah, I was exaggerating for effect. IRL, the only time that wasn't under heavy Christian influence was during the Revolution and the period that the Constitution was written. According to Rodney Stark, a noted religious historian, less than 25% of Americans were church members and that in NC and Georgia it was under ten percent. Halcyon days ,indeed.I don't agree. nice. one of your better posts on this board. If we're talking about the US in particular, there was a time in our country's past where there were only Christians (90+%) around to do everything. Don't confuse Christians being the only ones to do things with doing things because they are Christians. That's like saying "people who ate corn" designed our democracy.
