For one, he was blaming the crash on FAA for hiring people with disabilities

President Donald Trump on Thursday, without evidence, sought to blame the policies of previous Democratic administrations for Wednesday’s deadly mid-air collision over the Potomac River.

“We must have only the highest standards for those who work in our aviation system,” Trump said. “I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre at best to extraordinary.”

He continued: “You remember that. Only the highest aptitude. They have to be the highest intellect and psychologically superior people were allowed to qualify for air traffic controllers. That was not so prior to getting there.”

Trump added: “When I arrived in 2016, I made that change very early on, because I always felt this was a job that, and other jobs too, but this was a job that had to be superior intelligence, and we didn’t really have that. And we had it. And then when I left office and Biden took over, he changed them back to lower than ever before.

“Their policy was horrible,” the president said, “and their politics was even worse.”
Sounds about right. Politicize, criticize, boast, and blame. That guy is the fucking worst.

I've thought for a while his approval floor is around 42%, just because that's the percentage of the public that will support him no matter what. He may fall below that level before his first month is over. I literally can't imagine a worse start to a presidency than what we're seeing.

Pubs have become really, really quiet on this board over the last few days. I get that you're embarrassed to defend what's happening right now, but if you're to be taken seriously as a member of this online community, seems to me you wouldn't disappear when the (completely predictable) shit hits the fan.

What an absolute clown show this administration has been thus far.
We were scolded by some for imagining the worst, but Trump is way ahead of schedule to be worse than I imagined it could get.
Congrats for getting the shit sandwich you ordered, MAGA. Here’s to you choking it down and convincing yourself you like the taste.

Huh?

He was basically under 38% his entire first term, save the first 8 or so months at the beginning and a few spikes in the middle and end. There is no way he will be sniffing anything above 40% for the vast, vast majority of 2.0. I expect him to be sub 35% in 2026 and beyond.

lolz.

none of the board pubs who are to be taken seriously are maga.

We have non-MAGA ‘Pubs on this board? Who?
there are quite a few who used to be Republicans but left the party in the last decade or so. i don't want to name anyone and be misremembering but definitely some of our very regular posters.

This is the worst day of Trump 2.0 BY FAR!!! And that's a high bar after the last couple of days, including yesterday when OMB was forced to rescind an order it issued a couple of days ago because it was so fucking stupid even Pubs were opposing it. I'm confident we'll have many more Worst Days ahead, but damn if this administration isn't off to a spectacularly awful start. We may become Canada's 11th province before this is over.

And Tulsi hasn't even testified yet today.

I want to get this off my chest.

I'm scared to voice my opinions about Trump on social media. This is pretty much the only outlet where I vent somewhat freely. I'm scared to give Likes to posts that criticize Trump and this administration. I'm a little scared of losing my Tourist visa. I'm very scared of putting my sons' visas in jeopardy. I worry that their job prospects will be vaporized by random decisions. Logic would seem to indicate that this is impossible...and yet, I worry.

I am as pro-American as you can get in Latin America. I believe in the ideals of American democracy as a beacon of values that we should aspire to...freedom of expression, freedom of worship, freedom to protest, majority rule, minority rights. I'm still amazed at the utter stupidity of the electorate. I'm still amazed how the Dems totally botched this.

The only time Ive ever suppressed my opinions is in Nicaragua so as to not put family in harm's way. I can't believe I have that same fear now.

Makes perfect sense to me. I am not optimistic about how this all plays out once Trump’s storm troopers are positioned to assert their dominance. They are following the Project 2025 playbook to the letter so far. It’s naive to think they won’t continue.
