LOL. Rubio’s op ed is bootlicking nonsense starting with the “sweeping victory….mandate” introductory paragraph.Rubio’s op-ed actually makes a ton of sense.
It does. You just have to separate the wheat from the chaff (designed to keep DTC happy).Rubio’s op-ed actually makes a ton of sense.

Then he goes on to say “Covid exposed the fragility of America’s dependence on far-flung supply chains. Relocating our critical supply chains to the Western Hemisphere would clear a path for our neighbors’ economic growth and safeguard Americans’ own economic security” just a couple of days before Trump imposed ridiculous tariffs on our closest western hemisphere allies.
He then tries to reinforce the bullshit narrative that the “Chinese Communist Party” is actually running the Panama Canal setting up nonsensical justification for Trump’s coming invasion.
“makes a ton of sense.” JFC, how gullible do you have to be to swallow this load of jizz?
It also makes sense in terms of shortening our supply chains, and minimizing reliance on China for basic products and services. But the fluffing of the Fuhrer makes it hard to take the good parts seriously. It makes sense through the lens of controlling the western hemisphere. Which is what they want. Controlling the southern border, taking back the Panama Canal, annexing Greenland & Canada.
It would make a lot more sense if we weren't actively threatening and antagonizing the countries we're trying to use to shorten the supply chain. It also makes sense in terms of shortening our supply chains, and minimizing reliance on China for basic products and services. But the fluffing of the Fuhrer makes it hard to take the good parts seriously.
Completely agree. Which is what makes it classic Rubio. He knows very well how counterproductive Trump’s foreign policy agenda is. But he still can’t help but slurp the guy.It would make a lot more sense if we weren't actively threatening and antagonizing the countries we're trying to use to shorten the supply chain.
Cool story. How do the impending tariffs on Mexico and Canada impact the points he makes in the Op-Ed?Rubio’s op-ed actually makes a ton of sense.
It would cost twice as much if we preserved the current rate of investor return and executive compensation. We could make everything we use in America. It would cost twice as much. But we could do it.
We could make everything we use in America. It would cost twice as much. But we could do it.
Define "make". Are you one of those who believe the Made in America bs from car companies and many others? Assembling bits and pieces most of which come from other countries is not made in Amurica. Can we mine all the minerals needed here in the USA? Doubt it. We could cobceivably wean our tit from this country or that over time? Yes. And in a sense bring some manufacturing back to our protective cover. We could make everything we use in America. It would cost twice as much. But we could do it.
He need them in November, now they can understand that Latin America and Latinos in the US that voted are not really important to him.Trump: ‘We don’t need’ Latin America
The president’s comments seem poised to throw cold water on hopes Trump would re-engage partners in the Western Hemisphere.
“… Trump was asked about relations with Latin America and Brazil and said the relationship “should be great.” But he made it clear who needs who more in the relationship.
“They need us much more than we need them. We don't need them,” he said. “They need us. Everybody needs us.”
Those comments seem poised to deflate hopes of some in Latin America that Trump would refocus resources on shoring up ties with countries in the Americas.
China and Russia have increased their footholds in the region over the past decade, financing major infrastructure projects including deep water ports, and providing more security partnerships for authoritarian states such as Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
Those hopes were buoyed by Trump’s pick of newly confirmed Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was a key voice on Latin America policy in the Senate. …”

Unfortunately many of the raw materials needed are not available in the quantities needed, part of why African relationships and trade are very important. We could make everything we use in America. It would cost twice as much. But we could do it.
We could certainly make everything we buy at WalMart or TargetWe could make everything we use in America. It would cost twice as much. But we could do it.
I’m sure a lot of the older people in the region are asking what happened to FDR’s Good Neighbor Policy of the ‘30’s and ‘40’s."China and Russia have increased their footholds in the region over the past decade, financing major infrastructure projects including deep water ports, and providing more security partnerships for authoritarian states such as Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela."
makings of a Caribbean Treaty Organization ( CTO ) ?
What does the State department have to do with supply chains? The problem isn't that Rubio fluffs the Fuhrer. The problem is that Rubio has always been a rube and a completely unserious person from the outset. And he knows jack shit about foreign policy. It also makes sense in terms of shortening our supply chains, and minimizing reliance on China for basic products and services. But the fluffing of the Fuhrer makes it hard to take the good parts seriously.
