Surprised this hasn't come up. Anyhow, apparently today the anniversary of our heroic leader's escape from death.

For the right, it has become a clarion call. They tried to kill our leader! Those awful left assholes! So violent!

In truth, it was just a wayward youth, who was also thinking about killing Biden. And grew up in a MAGA household. The other guy at Mar-a-lago was just a weirdo, who had no clear politics.

Honestly, I'm glad our dear leader survived. We deserve him. Any people that would look at a guy like that, who attempted a coup, and think, yeah, let's put him back into office, because we're dumbasses who don't understand how anything works and are spoiled out of our fucking minds but egg prices a bit too high - we fucking deserve it.

And, in time, we will get it.

Anyhow, reflect on your memories of the day our dear one almost lost his life.
 
Was almost definitely an assassination attempt and highly unlikely to have been staged or faked. But Trump almost definitely was not hit by a bullet or a bullet fragment, and was highly likely hit by a fragment of glass from the shattered teleprompter, or (more likely IMO) was cut on the ear in the melee of Secret Service agents (perhaps by someone’s holster?) taking him to the ground after the gunfire erupted. But he was absolutely not hit by an AR-15 round or a fragment of an AR-15 round.

Regardless, the lie about being shot by an AR-15 round, the refusal to release medical reports, and the subsequent wearing of the maxi pads on the ears by Trump and his supporters should have been deeply humiliating if he or any of his supporters had any capacity for shame.

Either way, glad that the would-be assassin was neutralized, sad for the death of the firefighter in the crowd who died protecting his family, glad that Trump survived an assassination attempt, glad that he wasn’t hurt besides the little nick on the ear, and wish we’d beaten him at the ballot box a few months later.

Yes, I do not buy left conspiracy theories about it. That it was staged. It was just a stupid, wayward boy that somehow managed to get on a rooftop with a gun.

And I agree that he was not hit by a bullet fragment, like the official report stated. There's no way. Like you said, it was likely glass fragments of some sort, from the podium.
 
I will say this again, we put a guy who attempted a coup back into the highest position. Other countries take care of that. We didn't. We deserve everything we get. Just spoiled assholes.

Some reactions I've gotten from people in conversation is that they have a family and don't have time for politics. I understand. I don't have a family, so I have a lot of time for politics. But don't vote if you have no fucking idea what the hell is happening! Your family is no excuse.

There will be a recession. Just a matter of when. And how bad.

Totally. I don’t claim to be an expert on all things firearms, but anyone who knows even an elementary amount about AR-15’s and similar weapons knew beyond a shadow of a doubt right away that Trump was not hit by a round or a fragment of a round fired by an AR-15 at 150 yards.

Eh, I don’t really see how that would be the case. I imagine that the overwhelming vast majority of us, even if we despise Donald Trump, are glad that he was not killed last year and instead wish we had just been able to beat him at the ballot box in November. I suppose I should not speak for everybody, but I’d at least like to believe that I’m surrounding myself here with folks who would not find joy in someone’s execution.

And anyway, if anything, today should one of the better days this board has had since its inception and certainly one of the better days the broader ZZLP has had since November 2020. For the very first time there are some serious chinks beginning to form in Trump’s/MAGA armor with this whole disaster his administration has created with the Epstein scandal. Who knows if it will actually harm him significantly, but I think it’s got by far the best potential of quite literally anything that has happened to Trump over the last 10 years of splintering his MAGA movement. I have never been someone who has believed that literally any other Trump scandal would be the one that would actually fell DJT, but I confess myself to be quite giddy at the prospect that *this* one might finally be one that causes him a massive headache.

Maybe not the vast majority, but a healthy number certainly, and some even being bold enough to admit it in other ways / conversations.

The ep file issue has been a hugely mismanaged thing for sure. I would like them released in entirety. However, that will blow over without causing any lasting harm. As long as the economy is chugging along, unemployment remains low, the fed lowers rates soon, and he keeps focus on illegal immigration, republicans will hang with him. Not a big fan of Charlie Kirk, but read an article where he said the biggest threat to republicans in the next election is failing to make housing more affordable for the younger voters that he claims put trump in office.

Not sure this is the tone to take if you're wrong. Considering that the FBI in 2024 -- not an organization rooting for Trump to win -- said it was a bullet that hit his ear. They probably know even an elementary about the guns.
