You’re right. I should rephrase and remove the “fragment of a bullet” part. What I meant is that Trump was not hit directly by a bullet or even directly grazed by a bullet. There’s no way he was. The ear would have been completely blown off if hit directly, or badly mangled even if “only” grazed directly. It’s entirely possible that his ear was grazed by a fragment of a bullet that had already hit something else (i.e., the teleprompter) and shattered. I can totally buy that. But given what direct hits from AR-15 bullets do to human flesh, yeah, I’ll never buy that he sustained a direct hit from a bullet or even a direct graze from a bullet, and nobody else should buy it either. If he was hit by a piece of a bullet, it was after the bullet had already hit something else and shattered.

That’s not to minimize an assassination attempt on the life of a U.S presidential candidate; I thought it was horrible then and now. I’m just saying that the idea that Trump sustained a direct hit or even a direct graze from an AR-15 bullet is ludicrous- he didn’t lose any flesh, his ear wasn’t mutilated, and his reaction to his ear being hit was more similar to if he’d been stung by an insect than hit by a bullet specifically designed to cause cavitation on impact, and his ear was miraculously completely healed like 3 days later at the RNC. I totally buy the FBI’s report that it was a bullet fragment that hit Trump, but I’ll never be convinced that he sustained a direct hit or direct graze from an AR-15 round and survived with a nick that looked about like when I cut my ear when I’m shaving my head with a straight razor.

I despise Trump as much as anyone but this post goes too far. Political assassinations are ALWAYS a bad thing, and that’s true whether it’s the worst presidential candidate in history or a Minnesota legislator and her husband and dog. I’m glad Trump was not killed. And I’m not at all sure the MAGA destruction of our country would have been stymied if he had been. It could be even worse.
 
Agree to disagree. I did not call for any political assassinations. The event happened. I just stated I would've been fine had the bullet found its mark. I've never owned a gun. I only touched one once and like Babbitt getting shot, it made me sick to my stomach. Put it right back down.

If anything, I feel political violence has been normalized by vermin like Trump. We've had an infestation of violent right-wing human scum. Trump and company have cheered it on or blamed it on the left. Tired of it. I don't believe the loss of any single life diminishes us all. There are just people I will not mourn. Trump is one. I can't imagine I would ever be part of any violence - political or otherwise. Now, if Trump had come along 30 years ago, that might've been different.

Yelp. I hate to think what the "Martyrdom" of Trump might have led to.
 
We would be horrible people to wish upon Trump what he and MAGA nation wish upon immigrants.
We would be terrible people if we acted towards Trump almost being murdered the way he and MAGA acted towards Paul Pelosi almost being murdered.
We would be human scum if we celebrated the Trump family being torn apart the way Trump and MAGA cheer for immigrant families being separated.
We would be deplorable people if we gloated about the Texas floods the way MAGA did the California fires.

I wish St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago had remained a failed real estate investor. But I guess that Vlad "the Ras" Putin decided that he couldn't pick and choose who and how much Kompromat he had on Americans and decided to go with what fell into his lap. That said, I do not wish premature death on St. Donald. If St. Donald were any other person, then I would wish embarrassment on him. But as embarrassment is apparently a feeling that St. Donald is incapable of experiencing, I hope that St. Donald one day over-estimates how intelligence and cunning he is and does something that forces Vlad the Ras (or Vlad's successor) to release the SVR files on St. Donald. That's the worse I hope for St. Donald.
