Trump’s Health Thread

I don't think it's good that the President is signing EOs and saying "I have no idea what I'm signing." I don't think it's at all good, regardless of who's around him, that the most powerful nation in the world has a leader that struggles to complete any thought, navigate stairs or ride a bike.

I especially don't think it's good that his party's leadership lets him continue that was for 3 years and not only doesn't sound an alarm during his term, but proceeds to allow him to run AGAIN without saying a fucking word.
So bosiding begs the question

So I will ask the question a different way....

Which would you prefer this Trump 2nd term or a Biden 2nd term ? and a response that you would prefer a different president begs the question, again. It's a one or the other question What say you ?

I will go first and answer my own question by saying I would much prefer a Biden 2nd term over this dangerous shitshow Trump 2nd term.

Moot point. Biden didn't run for a second term. Why argue something that didn't happen. The system didn't work as well or fast as it maybe should have but he didn't run.

The Republicans screwed the pooch and then the public. They ran a mental incompetent and removed all the checks on him.

The way you're phrasing your question assumes there are only two options for an answer. There isn't.

He did run, which is how he was able to flame out in a national TV presidential debate.

heelinhell was one of the two that rationalized and, again paraphrasing, it's ok to have a mentally deficient president as long as he has a good cabinet around him. Are we haggling over the phrase "sitting in the corner"? If I said he lacks the cognitive ability to perform the role of President, but is quietly sitting in his chair in the oval office, would that be acceptable?

As long as the demented president has established a competent cabinet with a team of experienced and knowledgeable expert advisors, that is far better than having a demented president who surrounds himself with a cabinet of incompetent buffoons with a team of inexperienced and ignorant advisors who know nothing about geopolitical matters or domestic policy.

Wouldn't you agree ? and a response that it would be better if we didn't have a demented president begs the question.
Right. He said it was “far better.” And yes, I am going to parse between “far better,” and “acceptable.”

Two posters have rationalized Dem leadership not doing the right thing because, paraphrasing, Trump is scary.
That's how the world works. Nobody gets a perfect candidate. We didn't exactly love the Soviet Union but we were their allies because Hitler and Hirohito were scary.

He's rationalizing it. I'd guess that those close to Biden, who were restricting access to him beginning in 2021, rationalized their decision to do the wrong/unacceptable thing in a similar way - Trump is scary. Biden already won. Let's just keep this quiet.

I'd guess that those close to Biden, who decided to keep quiet about his lack a cognitive ability to be president for another 4 years, rationalized their decision to do the wrong/unacceptable thing in a similar way - Trump is scary. Biden already beat Trump once. Let's just keep this quiet and see if we can't get grandpa across the finish line one more time.

That's why I pointed out that the concern, from the Left, about cognitive ability started in 2025.

The left’s concern about cognitive decline in the president started in 1986, actually, when Republicans were not as concerned about cognitive abilities of the president. If you want to bosides this, that’s the comparison I would go to.
I have no idea if Trump is experiencing cognitive decline or if he is just a dumb madman. But what we are seeing from this administration isn’t anything like Reagan or Biden. I wouldn’t compare Biden’s mental state to Trump’s, personally. But I would compare their policies and outcomes.

The primary problem with Trump is not his declining cognitive ability. It is that he was always unfit to be president; has become even more grandiose and self-focused in the intervening years; and is incapable of making and sticking with a policy for more than a few days.

The declining cognitive ability is worrisome on top of that because it raises the fear that he will blunder us into a major war. And maybe some folks in the administration can realize that accepting a cabinet position was not a suicide pact.

But if you're so insistent on "equality," fine. I don't care about the declining abilities of either. I care about the rank malicious, vile incompetence on one side and the steady, sensible and law-abiding judicious administration on the other.

I will try asking the question one last time in the form of a hypothetical question :

Suppose someone captures and ties you up in a chair. He pulls out a hand gun and places it to your head and tells you your life depends upon answering the question : which do you prefer, a 2nd Biden term or a 2nd Trump term. The answer must be Biden or Trump. Any other answer or non-answer he will shoot in the head and kill you.

Don't discount the possibility the gunman will turn the gun on himself after talking with Zen.
