Trump’s Health Thread

Well I think that settles it everyone. This guy has worked in several countries so he is the foremost authority on why the US is the best.

Just don’t ask him to provide any specific metrics or explanations to back that claim up beyond vague references to the troops.

Says a 5 percenter.

America is one of the better countries but we have too many that are hungry, sick, poor and homeless to think we're the best. Being proud of our country is good. Being proud to the point of ignoring where we need to improve is idiocy.
Yeah, we are not the greatest country in the world but one of the better ones at least for now. There are many countries more happy than we are. In this top 25 we rank 24

I hear this often. Why don't you move or do you just like being melodramatic? It's really not that hard I've lived in several countries for work.

Every place has its obstacles America is no different, but make no mistake about it we are still the greatest nation in the world thanks to all the brave men and women who made huge sacrifices to afford us the luxury to live an absolute dream life.
Some of us take the responsibility of looking after our parents seriously. Once our parents are gone, so are we. And both of our fathers are part of those brave men and women. We are both military brats who have immense respect for what they fought for. The problem is that the US in no way lives up to any of the ideals that they fought for and we are rapidly going backwards.

No Way Thinking GIF

Counterpoint - why don't you shut your cake hole when people try to draw attention to the very serious systemic problems facing our nation so that we can address them, rather than engaging in counterproductive jingoistic "love it or leave it" nonsense?
This is exceptionally unkind. KeyWest is going to tell you that you need to look at yourself in the mirror and learn to be more accepting of your fellow man. Then he will jump up to support OG in a thread where OG has called everyone about 15 names and insulted their mental health, their physical health, their parenting, and pretty much anything else.

Why dont you make me tough guy? I said we have obstacles. Again move you ass out if you dont like the problems and live somewhere better. What have you ever sacrificed? Your loud mouth tough guy persona on an internet board means nothing. All mouth is all you have

^ that's worth the read

Agree. Take 5 to give it a read!

This is why he installed people who supported him over competent people when he built his second administration's cabinet.

The 25th is going to be invoked at some point during this administration. And he wants everyone that he can to keep him from being kicked out of office in his administration. He's too old. And yes, so was Biden.

We, as a nation, have to stop electing anyone over the age of 70, 75, 78--whatever age we decide on. Stop voting for people who are more likely to die in office of natural causes than finish out their term.

Agree completely with the election of folks way up in age. It also needs to happen a LOT with congressional reps too.
Having taken the exam, the lion and giraffe are easy to recognize. The hippo is a tiny bit less obvious ?

But if you can't name all 3, then you are going to be found to be suffering signs of dementia🙁

Funny non-Trump side bar on this one. My mom had dementia when she passed. It wasn't what killed her, but she was suffering terribly from it at her passing. I was talking to her doctor about her memory after 6 or so months after onset, and he mentioned that they had given her one of the "memory" tests (I can't remember which one). His words, "which she did remarkably well on, which surprised all of us in the office...." We both had a big laugh about it because it was one of those "lucky guess" days for her, I guess.

My wife is a couple of months younger than me and she's been slipping slowly downhill for the last 3-4 years. She's started having to be reminded of thing more, repeats herself and spends less time reading and more watching old TV shows. Makes me wonder what signs I might be missing in myself. I'm not an entirely unbiased critic.

I do still feel like that, despite any loss of acuity, that I have a better overall perspective about the past and a broader, less personal perspective of what I feel the future should offer. That doesn't make it true, of course, but if it is, would you choose smarter or wiser?

I hope this doesn't come across as flippant but what you describe for your wife applies to me, as well.

I turned 74yo yesterday and my wife gripes about having to remind me of things. I used to be a voracious reader but not as much over the past few years, and I do enjoy watching old tv shows on streaming.

I attribute my "symptoms " to the natural aging process.

To answer your question whether a choice of smarter or wiser, I say why not both ? 😄

But seriously, I would choose wiser with the hope that my children and grandchildren are benefitting from whatever wisdom I have to offer.

My parents are 73 and 76. We just got back from taking them as well as my husband's family on a Christmas vacation. We do these trips one or two times a year and with each one it is clear that my folks are "slipping". They both now follow me like puppies who are lost when we are in airports, ships, ports, etc. Neither of them is actually paying attention to their surroundings any longer...just relying on following me. Dad now wants mom to walk in front of him so he can follow her in his electric wheelchair. He would never admit it but this is so he doesn't have to think about where he is going or depend on his own memory of things. Mom increasingly has to be addressed directly and loudly 2-3 times before I can get her attention. Age is a bitch.

74 in March. I definitely have more senior moments and age is a part although I feel like some of that go back to chemo a few years back.

I guess I'm being a bit defensive when I see many so many posters who seem to feel like age by itself seems to be an automatic disqualifier. I'm all for taking as many judgment calls out of sports as possible but life? Nah, use your very best judgment and don't take anything for granted.

My peers and I like to say that getting old is not for sissies.

regarding being addressed directly and loudly, this is a frequent exchange between me and the issus ( who is two weeks older than me )

Me : Were you talking to me ?
Missus: Yes ! You didn't hear me ?
Me : What ?
Missus : What ?

Rinse and repeat

Greatest nation in the world? Highly debatable. You can say it's the greatest for you but that's where your purview ends.
