Have you noticed that the picture quality for live sports broadcasts varies depending on the network that is broadcasting it? Even if they are both in 1080 I have noticed some networks just look better than others. I was watching a NBA game on the NBC sports network and it didn't look as good as the one on ESPN. I also think games on ESPNU don't look as good as ones on ESPN and ESPN2. What's up with that?

Yes it can look much different. I’ve noticed that for years. I know you could look this up as well but here’s a snippet from AI:

Sports broadcasts vary in quality due to differences in bitrate (data compression), native resolution (720p vs 1080i/p), and the camera technology used, rather than just the "HD" label. High-motion sports require higher bitrates to avoid pixelation, while different networks use different standards (e.g., ESPN uses 720p/60fps for smoother motion, while CBS uses 1080i/60fps for higher detail).

I've noticed different picture quality on the same game on the same network depending on which camera is being used. Particularly on CBS.
