TV Streaming series to talk about.

Enjoying Death by Lightening.
Nice, historical period piece.
Bit of history to learn.
Never knew much about Garfield or 1880’s politics.
Entertaining and informative.
Always liked Matthew MacFadyen since his Prior Phillip days

I did not care for season 3 of the diplomat. Just seems like they threw logic and character out the window.

I mean they literally had the President of the United States asking the Prime Minister of England if Chequers was a family home of his.

even if you suspend disbelief that the president could be that stupid (and I mean this fictional president, not real life ones), it ignores the fact that they were talking about the history of the place earlier in the episode.

That and the overall dumbing down of all the other characters around the president to make Kate and Hal seem brilliant when they come up with Hail Marys constantly gets tedious. Just so many obvious things that a million advisers would have brought up before these two "reveal" the real danger in the situation.

And I am not going to get started on character whiplash for plot's sake.

I enjoyed the first two seasons, but this one really left a bad taste in my mouth.

He's been a known local problem for a long time now. Halifax has an utterly feckless police department though, and the RCMP is not much better around these parts.

Ugh that’s rough to hear. One of my all time favorite comedic characters.

I finally got ahold of Ken Burns’ The Vietnam War. Riveting through the first couple episodes. I imagine it’ll only get better too.

It might be on Hulu, not sure. Otherwise might need a paid PBS subscription or donation.

Do yourself a favor and watch Death by Lighting immediately! 4 part and absolutely amazing!
ETA: Netflix
Agree. Well done mini series. It was interesting to do the research on all of this. I was totally ignorant about this time in our Nation’s history.

Just started last night. Enjoyed the first episode for the reasons you stated.

I'm starting to get that same feeling about the latest episode of Ken Burns' Revolutionary War doc. I'm just now watching episode 3 and it's like somebody is making a deliberate mockery of Ken Burns documentaries in general and the whole American revolution in particular...

Discovered early on this season that although new episodes of The Morning Show on Apple TV "drop" on Wednesdays, they are actually available on Tuesday nights beginning at 9/8 central.
If you're a fan, all I can say is what a GREAT season finale!!

Fine short series, quality period depiction, and decent accuracy to the history. MacFadyen was superb, recapturing an element of his overly confident character from Succession. Yet again, I thought Nick Offerman about stole the attention, and gave the best performance in this thing. He is on a roll, choosing great parts and playing them to perfection. I did despise the show theme music, but that's why they make a mute button.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family is superb, and I don't think it's getting close to the attention it deserves. I followed this case a few years ago, and found the details and court video at once repulsive, emblematic of rich versus poor justice in America, and mesmerizing. The whole sordid tale sums up, at least metaphorically, so much going on in modern America. The actor playing Murdaugh is scary-good, though he can't quite be as horrible as the real person--an unreachable standard. All acting and the direction, and writing are excellent.
So I no longer think this is superb, as episodes 7 and 8 (finale) were way weaker than I expected. I wanted to see more of how he and his lawyer were destroyed on the witness stand, and a better look at his psychopathy in planning and carrying out the murders. Episode 7 plays a stupid game of misleading whatever tiny part of the audience didn't know he did it, showing him calling out for his already dead family in walking about the house, and crying when he "found" them. No reason for that stuff. Overall, good, not very good, series on the tale.

Apple increasing their monthly price. So much that even now TMobile isn't covering the increase so you have to pay the difference.

These streaming services are getting insane. They were all about $5 4 years ago. Now, $15-$30 is the norm. Are people really paying that much or, I assume, getting one and splitting with friends?

On a long enough timeline, every tech platform or online service is a bait & switch by design. This process is known as enshittification:

It is really disappointing when a series starts off well then drops the ball on the last few episodes.
