I can at least understand that perspective even if I disagree with it wholeheartedly. I get the need to reduce as much wasteful government spending as is possible. I support it, in fact. What I don't support is giving a coked-up dude with Aspberger's a chainsaw and allowing him to indiscriminately massacre the entire federal government within a matter of weeks. That's wildly irresponsible and is going to have real-world negative impacts on every single one of us regardless of our political views.
Not coke. Ketamine.

He's experiencing an upper effect of some kind, too.

It's possible he's susceptible to ketamine induced mania, though his presentation strikes me as more hyper and attentive than the versions of ketamine mania I've seen.

He's most likely stuck in an upper downer cycle like Michael Jackson and countless others. Dose yourself to unconscious, then stimulate to get your brain going again in the morning (or well whenever you wake up) and hit more uppers to stave off the crash from the first uppers, BUT you need to sleep eventually so hit the downers harder to drown out the stims and start again.

Meanwhile never experiencing true sleep cycles that keep you sane.

”… White House officials are eyeing cuts to agency budgets of between 30 and 40 percent, on average, across the government — centered on significant staff reductions, according to two other people briefed on internal conversations, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to recount private deliberations.

That target would vary greatly, and it’s expected to exempt agencies favored by President Donald Trump, such as the Defense Department and the Homeland Security Department. A White House spokeswoman declined to comment on that figure. The people cautioned those plans are not yet finalized and could change. …”

Why are we spending more money on Homeland Security? After the cabinet that was just installed, that's throwing good money after bad.

People voting for the leopard eating faces party getting surprised when leopard eats faces.
Ah. Different species. You can easily tell by the spots. Jaguars have a dot in the middle of most of their spots. Harder unless you see side by side but jaguars are also more muscular and have a bigger head.

Yeah, I knew the difference but it wasn't my post. Although I suppose it could have the same meaning for the jaguar eating faces party. That one operates in South America.

homeland security will come to mean white people security. They are not being funded to defend, they are being funded to round up.

No more medicaid.

Good luck paying out of pocket for those nursing homes for your elderly parents and grandparents, MAGA! Don't like paying an extra $140,000 a year? Guess you can roll them into your living room where they can quickly die. Fun times.

Mine are gone-but God help my kids as I age, if I live past 80

How many people are on Medicaid? There are almost 72.7 million people with Medicaid and over 7.2 million people with CHIP coverage in the U.S. Since Medicaid unwinding, which meant you had to reapply for coverage, began in March 2023, Medicaid enrollment has gone down by nearly 14.5 million people.

Even the Medicaid programs that survive will see drastic cuts in the services provided to a client. This has been happening for years, but the declines have been incremental for the most part. These cuts trump and musk are proposing will cause dramatic reductions for the programs lucky to survive this assault on the poor’s medical care. I hope you Trump supporters are proud of your main men. They are going to make the lives of millions of poor people much harder if this isn’t stopped.

Not only are they going to make the lives of poor people more difficult, the reason they are doing it is so they can pass a tax cut for already extremely wealthy people. A tax cut that will blow up the deficit that is supposedly the reason they are making the cuts. Just pure insanity..

A lot of presidents have given tax cuts or proposed spending increases without having a sure-fire way to balance the financials. Harris flat-out lied about her plans to tax unrealized capital gains to give the illusion that she was going to have a balanced budget. But, again, this is the first President since Clinton to actually try to scale down the size, scope and spending of the federal government. Even if it's for some of the wrong reasons, at least he's doing it.
You are missing the point. Trump has no choice. The budget hawks in Congress will not pass his tax cuts without spending cuts. He did not cut spending when he cut taxes the first time. And regardless, this is Kabuki theater - there will be no meaningful government spending cuts. In order for spending cuts to be "meaningful" they would have to cut defense, Medicare, and social security benefits - not USAID.
