Even the Medicaid programs that survive will see drastic cuts in the services provided to a client. This has been happening for years, but the declines have been incremental for the most part. These cuts trump and musk are proposing will cause dramatic reductions for the programs lucky to survive this assault on the poor’s medical care. I hope you Trump supporters are proud of your main men. They are going to make the lives of millions of poor people much harder if this isn’t stopped.
It's basically the entire budget. It wont survive.

And some folks think Medicaid is just poor people. It's what covers 60% of people in nursing homes. People are not going to be able to afford it and then what? Are we going to dump dying people into shelters?

It's not just poor "people" - it's also people with disabilities and children. It's basically those most in need in our society. It's also funded in part by states - so, what will happen is that states will be forced to make the difficult decisions as federal funding is cut. We already have a shitty, under funded, over priced health system and rather than fix that system - they are going to make it even worse. This will also increase the cost curve for everyone since there will be significantly more people who can't pay their bills getting emergency healthcare.

The House and Senate are doing a SPECTACULAR job of working together as one unified, and unbeatable, TEAM, however, unlike the Lindsey Graham version of the very important Legislation currently being discussed, the House Resolution implements my FULL America First Agenda, EVERYTHING, not just parts of it! We need both Chambers to pass the House Budget to "kickstart" the Reconciliation process, and move all of our priorities to the concept of, "ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL." It will, without question, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Trump said last night in his interview with Co-President Musk and Sean Hannity that there would be no cuts to SS, Medicare or Medicaid, but the House bill he just endorsed proposes $880 Billion in cuts to such programs (most assume that would come almost entirely out of Medicaid, though that figure exceeds the federal portion of the entire Medicaid annual budget).

One Republican’s “waste” is another man’s medication.

We have finally reached the point at which Trump can claim that he's not cutting Medicaid and Medicare, they cut it to the bone anyway, and his supporters will actually still believe him when he said he wasn't cutting it. He can now lie as much as he wants and his base will just sit there and smile and nod in adoration and agreement. And if anyone disagrees or tries to tell them the truth they'll just yell "scoreboard!" or "MAGA" and think that everything will be OK.

This strategy will run into issues when the members of the MAGA base who receive these benefits are directly affected IMO.

I always figure that only a Republican President could get away with cuts to the military (Dems would get slaughtered for being soft on defense). Still very skeptical...Hesgeth is not an administrator or a cost cutter...and I can see them reversing field very easily.

I have a prediction that he US deficit will be larger by the time Trump leaves office. He will do cosmetic cost cutting, but his tax policy will exacerbate the deficit ...and he will get cheered for that.

It's the Republican way. I think first term, it was around 6 trillion, some because of Covid but most was tax cuts and defense spending.
