I was convinced that when elected again, Trump would grow the deficit yet again. So far I feel pretty good about that prediction.

Given that every president for the last century (save a couple of Truman and Clinton years) has done exactly that, you weren't exactly going out on a limb with that prediction.

I believe the deficit decreased each year under Obama so we can add another fiscally responsible Dem POTUS to the list:cool:

I'm old enough to remember when the GOP pilloried Pelosi for her statement that we have to pass the bill to know what's in it. Which was merely a reflection that the details were fluid. Of course, the GOP selective memory and outrage is standard fare these days, barely even remarkable.

Thank you for bringing up that Pelosi statement.

She said we are going to have to pass the bill so YOU ( the audience she was speaking to ) can find out what's in it which will dispel the misinformation being spread by republicans about what is in the ACA.

"You've heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don't know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention–it's about diet, not diabetes. It's going to be very, very exciting.

But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

Good point. CR did say deficit and not debt, and it is true that some years have had smaller deficits than others (while basically every year has added to the overall debt).

Six out of eight years, but the increase from 2010 to 2011 was miniscule and the increase from 2015 to 2016 was when deficits were way below $1T. So yes, Obama ranks as one of the greatest deficit hawks in recent memory.

Anyone who votes for Pubs because of the deficit is a bona fide historically-illiterate moron.

“Gruber said that “the stupidity of the American voter” made it important for him and Democrats to hide Obamacare’s true costs from the public. “That was really, really critical for the thing to pass,” said Gruber. “But I’d rather have this law than not.” In other words, the ends—imposing Obamacare upon the public—justified the means.”
