This was a monumental victory for trump and trumpism overall. They will push it as a mandate (though it hardly is). The corruption and illegalities and unconstitutional acts will only increase. The funding for ICE alone creates a masked modern gestapo at the beck and call of Stephen Miller and trumpist policies. The news media have essentially caved. The fake reports and releases from the Federal Government will suffice.

We're whipped.

That's my 'take' on this morning after.

‘Tis true. All this talk about FAFO… it’s time to merge this thread and several others onto that one FAFO thread. Americans have fucked around and are now finding out.

There’s that one thread about “how will a trump presidency harm you?” It seems apropos about now.

I just hope those on the fringes, the Marginalized, the poor, the people of color, the LGBTQ, etc. who made the mistake of voting for Trump are going to be satisfied with their choice now. They’re the ones who’ve truly fucked around and will soon be finding out.

Be safe out there everybody. Let me know when it’s time to whitewash this board and close up shop. No need to get caught up in Stephen Miller’s dragnet.

I think there’s way too much fatalism on here and on the left in general. Democrats may be mostly a bunch of incompetent boobs, but even they shouldn’t be able to fuck up a blue wave election next fall. This bill getting passed is a spectacular disaster for about 98.9% of the American public.

Less culture warring, more talking about Republicans’ alligator-infested concentration camps for busboys, construction workers, and crop pickers.

How many people will lose health care in YOUR state under Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill"?• Alabama – 219,803• Alaska – 39,989• Arizona – 365,984• Arkansas – 158,745• California – 2,368,466• Colorado – 240,953• Connecticut – 86,580• Delaware – 54,957• Florida – 1,936,421• Georgia – 651,540• Hawaii – 62,483• Idaho – 72,815• Illinois – 535,849• Indiana – 267,996• Iowa – 113,979• Kansas – 92,937• Kentucky – 184,526• Louisiana – 267,550• Maine – 61,488• Maryland – 245,929• Massachusetts – 326,262• Michigan – 453,101• Minnesota – 173,268• Mississippi – 153,910• Missouri – 265,298• Montana – 55,981• Nebraska – 78,275• Nevada – 114,500• New Hampshire – 46,388• New Jersey – 363,330• New Mexico – 111,997• New York – 1,019,121• North Carolina – 651,982• North Dakota – 24,488• Ohio – 489,815• Oklahoma – 211,794• Oregon – 198,089• Pennsylvania – 483,868• Rhode Island – 47,359• South Carolina – 285,857• South Dakota – 33,838• Tennessee – 310,056• Texas – 1,671,965• Utah – 188,494• Vermont –35,242• Virginia – 322,984• Washington – 328,695• West Virginia – 82,225• Wisconsin – 276,175• Wyoming – 20,407
That's 17 MILLION lives Republicans are putting at risk.

This is what bothers me the most. For decades now, we've been in a recurring pattern where Republican administrations fuck up our fiscal policy by slashing taxes, starting expensive wars, and exploding the deficit. In effect, they repeatedly, without fail, upper deck our national toilet. The American people then elect a Democrat to fix the problem, but when the Democrats start cleaning out the toilet, all the American people can think is, "Why does this whole country smell like shit?" And thus the cycle repeats.

The only difference now is the current Pubs aren't even trying to hide what they're doing. They're just assuming enough voters will be dumb or gullible enough to give them yet another pass. And instead of a couple of turds in the toilet tank, they're all perched up there at the same time after a long night of chicken wings and tequila. I have very little hope the American people will figure this out now when they haven't with any of the last 5+ Republican administrations, but for the love of God, can someone make this insanity stop???

“… in an interview last weekend with Fox’s Maria Bartiromo made clear his determination to undo the Green New Deal aspects of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

His dislike for both Biden’s legacy, and wind and solar energy in particular, seems almost visceral.

“We’re doing coal,” Trump declared. “I don’t want windmills destroying our place. I don’t want these solar things where they go for miles and they cover up half a mountain and they’re ugly as hell.” And, he said, “They’re made in China.”

So get ready to pay more for electricity, and to compete with big tech and artificial intelligence for the power supply. Recent growth in electricity demand from data centers has been stunning. Lawrence Berkeley National Lab data shows that in 2018 data centers used 76 terawatt hours (TWh), or 1.9% of domestic electricity; they project that will hit at least 325 TWhs (6.7% of the total) by 2028. Consultancy Rystad Energy eyes a 16% rise in overall U.S. power demand by 2035.

But without affordable renewables (or rapid breakthroughs in nuclear fusion) the electricity to feed all those AI data centers may not arrive in time. Most are integrated energy projects. Meta, for its Sucre data center in Louisiana, is partnering with Entergy to invest $3.2 billion in gas turbines to provide reliable electricity for its computers, and another $1.5 billion into wind and solar–to reduce its carbon footprint….”

The energy component to this bill is really baffling. It suggests no one is reading these addendums and amendments.

Meanwhile China is building 27 nuclear power plants.
