I don't agree that there are only two options. Zero, or status quo. I think the end result will be the left caves. The "pressure" will shift to the right as time goes on because they are in power and they will have to act in some way or be seen as the cause of premiums increasing more than normal even though obamacare is a creature of the left. The pubs will claim they saved people's healthcare from the dems bad legislation. The left will claim their shutdown saved healthcare premiums and the sheep on both sides will believe it.

I think your belief that your side is the only one concerned about people's healthcare is going to be tested because I think the right is going to introduce a way to keep subsidies while including other provisions that the left is going to oppose and the left is going to have to chose between subsidies or no subsidies.

Probably good since you can’t tell the difference between “concern trolling”, whatever that is, and asking people for their opinion. I get accused of “conveniently” disappearing from the board but it’s really just a lack of desire to engage in this very kind of crap. I simply wanted people’s opinions. This is the only interaction I get with liberals. Sadly it’s unnecessarily difficult.

Several people answered your question and you dismissed it outright as partisan nonsense. Pardon us for thinking you might not be engaging in good faith.

If you really want engagement, participate in the threads where we’re discussing Trump’s daily, incessant implementation of fascist policies. I know you’re not ok with that, but you only weigh in on things you think might be gotchas. Even if they’re not.

Because it was partisan

There is nothing to discuss in those threads. They go like this: “Fascist, fascist, fucking fascist, racist, bigot, fascist, incessant implementation of fascist policies, racist, fascist…. Literally every thread goes that way. There are very few threads I feel like getting involved in because they are nothing but groupthink echo chambers where not a single objective thought exists. You are correct in that im not ok with some of his actions. But nothing is going to come out of it but insults and the word fascist.

Im way beyond “gotchas”. I want objective political discussion where liberal ideas are discussed without all the TDS dominating every aspect of every thread. Im more than willing to talk about where I feel republicans are wrong, but the same doesn’t hold true because trump has rotted any semblance of objectivity from your brains.

Your question was, “Can someone explain to me what the left is trying to accomplish?” Of course the answer to that is partisan. As is the question.

No problem if you don’t want to participate on other threads but don’t complain when people don’t engage with you in the way you want on things like this. I think I speak for most of us here that we’re completely done with the “TDS” gaslighting. You guys whined when we called Trump a fascist years ago. You told us that was overblown. You told us that language is dangerous. Now we have a president governing as a full-blown fascist, enabled by all the people who have been bitching about TDS. You want “objective political discussion where liberal ideas are discussed”? Let’s put down our fascist takeover first and then we can debate whether single payer would be better than the ACA.

Yeah, I call bullshit here. Your question was asked and answered in good faith by quite a few people. You failed to engage with those answers meaningfully at all and now are blaming the folks who answered because you dont feel engaged.

There are also jusy as many posts in other threads that never mention the word fascist as do.

So here's where I get to diagnose you the way you diagnose me and others.

Your partisan blind spot is that you identify and vote with the Right not so much because of policy but because you share the persecution complex that is so prevalent.

I was going to say that anyone who describes wmheel, CFord, lawtig, and others as leftists is FOS.

Y’all are at least GHWB or Mitt Romney-esque.

You’re not voting for Bernie or Elizabeth Warren as candidates or their policies UNLESS Trump and/or Trumplicans are the only options.

Just for the record, I would vote for Liz Warren even with reservations about some of her ideas. She is brilliant and was one of the lone voices of reason 20 years ago when the housing industry was burying us all. I respect her.

Bernie...not so much. He rubs me the wrong way in nearly every way even if I happen to agree with him on a topic.
