I see what you mean. I thought you were suggesting the name was offensive or something, that type of inappropriate.
No, not offensive in the vulgar sense, just offensive to the idea of governing 300+million people in ostensibly the most advanced society on the planet.

In short, we ought to act like we aren't cretins if we dont want to be viewed as such.

Someone who burps abd farts at will in public is going to be viewed a certain way...and rightfully so.

Now that I am starting to see references to the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” in legal documents it is so gross that is the actual name of this law. I know all the naming conventions of this century tend to be some kind of BS anyway, but still … just heavy sigh.

One reason I hate Trump's assface so much (maybe the main reason) is his infantilization of our language. The fact that he has named this bullshit "the big beautiful bill" and that people are actually referring to it as such (and "BBB" isn't much better) is depressing. It's like a stupider version of Pee Wee's Playhouse but without the fun...

$2400 extra a year. So. much. winning!

Hopefully my reduced taxes will pay for it. :ROFLMAO:

Come on Dr. Bob, find a more objective source. The real answer is that projections 10 years out and the fact that there is no uniform, consistent way to gauge the bill's future effects makes it all a crapshoot. These things are almost always partisan and the real story is determined in hindsight.

You really can't find more substance to criticize the bill over than it's name isn't sophisticated enough? Who gives a shit if it delivers. And if it doesn't, people won't give a damn about what it was called.

I have said plenty about the content of the bill and was responding directly to a poster who said he was not going to comment on the content, only on the name.

If you weren't so eager for a 2nd grade "gotcha", you might have actually read that chain of conversation.

There is no "gotcha" when dealing with willfully ignorant and hypocritical people. You would fall into that category. Its like a great paradox of people who are formally educated, but woefully ignorant due to their hatred, insecurity, and sheep like mentality.

Unlike the MAGA base which is uneducated and woefully ignorant.
Reasonable political conversations do not occur with people deep into cult of personalities, particularly chaotic personalities like Trump. These cults demand every parishioner represent an extension of the godhead, with as much fidelity as possible.

Given Trump is a highly irrational and mentally addled godhead, maintaining fidelity is impossible. Internally, quietly, the parishioners feel the perpetual inconsistencies but have fully integrated the demand to maintain loyalty and representation of their godhead. This is tiresome, even embarrassing in some cases.

So, a rational actor is not only battling the facsimile of the godhead, they’re battling the unexamined shame and/or embarrassment, which reveals itself most often as comically on the nose projection, e.g. calling others sheep; blithely throwing around pedophile accusations; claiming your opponents are always angry; staking claim to all things “normal” and “real”; etc.
