Still stand by that, Zen? Zero chance? I mean, if there actually is a blockade, that's already a war. But anyway . . .
Wish I knew Zen as well then as now and seen that. I could have gotten some money down on it. He's an anti prophet.

I would say there is a 2% chance we go to war with Puerto Rico
I would say there is a 40% chance we go to war with Venezuela

A blockade is war?

When people imagine being at war with a country, I suspect a picture a lot of things in their minds. I don't think many would say that a blockade means we are at war.

How about how the military imagine it. They tend to think of long episodes of planning, positioning themselves favorably, making sure all the logistics are taken care of followed intermittently with brief episodes of fighting.

Lots of countries nationalized their oil industries in the 1960s and 1970s. Whether it's "wrong" depends on your perspective. People in those countries often feel as though they are merely reclaiming what was taken from them by Western imperialism. I don't know much about the 2007 expropriation. That's at least half a generation after the nationalization wave stopped, and by 2007 a lot of the expropriating countries were starting to hire with private companies because their operations were inefficient.
It is my understand (which could be wrong) that American companies put a lot of money into the industry and was never compensated after nationalization.

God, I sound a bit like Miller. Please forgive me for that and I’m no way should this be interpreted as an argument for war.

I don't have the facts, but maybe better characterized as "multi-national companies" than "American companies".

Likely true and likely true that the profits they garnered covered their capital outlays and then some

Stephen Miller almost certainly wrote all or most of tonight's speech, which means we'll hear a lot about Venezuela stealing American oil fields. Assuming Trump can actually read the teleprompter correctly.
