Eerily similar to Neville Chamberlain conceding Czechoslovakia to Hitler and believing Hitler when he said that the Sudetenland is all that he wants.
I’m not saying that Trump is Hitler or that he is set to exterminate a set of people (though I wouldn’t want to be trans or a Palestinian right now) but the parallels of Trumps rise and Hitler 1920-30s Germany is pretty uncanny

One of the main differences being that Hitler rose in a country that was a total calamity after WWI, whereas Pubs allowed their own dictator to come to power in a thriving country, a fact they cannot see because of the false version of America created by right wing media and unregulated social media.

Putin has been quoted several times that Russia should return to size it had during Peter the Great era. That emcompasses Ukraine and a lot more.
Other day, Trump more or less said: Russia invaded Ukraine, Russia lost a lot of brave soldiers so it should get to keep some of Ukranian land.
If you want a connecting idiotic conspiracy theory, reports say Musi has spken frequently with Putin over past few years. So whatever dirt or power Putin had over Trump is now held by Elon.

Why does putin get to decide if Ukraine joins NATO? Has Ukraine or NATO threatened to invade Russia or anyone?
Don't misunderstand me here. I don't think he should get to decide. I'm simply saying Putin won't agree to cease hostilities if Ukraine is going to join NATO. He started the war. He can end it at any time by simply withdrawing. But Trump won't oppose him. That's what we're seeing here.
Trump bragged during the election that he could end the war with a phone call. That's because of his relationship with Putin/Russia. He has benefited from Russian money to finance his real estate ventures and buy his properties. He has a direct conflict of interest in these negotiations.

If Ukraine did join NATO, wouldn’t that put Putin in a box? Sincere question.
I suppose the fear is Putin would start dropping nukes? Are there other considerations to either allowing Ukraine in NATO or not?

The US won't allow Ukraine in because the US is effectively a Russian agent within NATO. The entire geopolitical alliance system built over the last 80 years has effectively been overturned by having two Russian agents running the US government.

I get that, but I was asking if there are actual legitimate reasons for the US (and rest of NATO) to vote or not vote Ukraine in.

Expansion to Ukraine has always been a questionable idea. I don't have any strong opinions, but there are plenty of good reasons not to admit Ukraine. Taking the option off the table completely is idiotic.

I'm not particularly fond of Ukrainian conduct during WWII but that's true of a lot of that part of the world. Iow, we're not particularly protecting innocents but we are helping protect against aggressors and to our benefit. Having them in NATO on the surface would seem to make that easier but I have a very superficial knowledge of any deeper ramifications.

But Ukraine is running out of soldiers.

Why is the Defense Secretary leading these talks? Should that be the Sec of State's job? I think Rubio has far more experience in foreign affairs than Hegseth, right? Or maybe having a buffoon at the table serves Trump's interests (and Trump's interests appear to be serving Putin's interests.)

The message Putin has pretty clearly heard is that Russia will be held accountable for nothing.

holy shit.

i'm reading midnight in chernobyl right now. excellent book, highly recommend.

if there's a crisis at that facility, the potential fallout could literally affect the entire world, most definitely including nearby russia.

why the fuck would they do that?!

At this point, Lauren Boebert probaby has more experience in foreign affairs than Hegseth. Let that sink in. Well done, MAGA.

That's literally a scene from the Bond film Quantum Of Solace. Except it was water rights, not mineral rights, but otherwise exactly the same setup. Zelenskyy is made of sterner stuff than the Bolivian guy in the movie.

So Trump = Bond supervillain.
