Matt Norlander said today that Mingo will redshirt due to his reinjured ankle. So, that particular bird would have been in a cage all year. Even Evans would be better than that.

And that info (of which the staff had to be aware of) changes the equation entirely.

No longer 2 Mingos, but 1 lesser Mingo and "hope" you get the better next year -- but who also could easily put out the "For Rent" sign next portal.

The world has changed a lot in five years. If Henri goes pro, that frees up $5 million-ish to get other good players.

The days of begging stars not to go pro is over. As long as we are making a FMV offer to him, I have no problems with him opting for the NBA and using those funds elsewhere.
 
Veesaar would be foolish not to test the NBA waters and get that feedback.

If, as assumed, that feedback is not a guaranteed 1st rd promise, then Veesaar would be foolish not to take the millions of dollars and improve his draft stock in what looks to be a weaker draft class next year.

Bird in hand and all... 😉

The chicken littles are running around with their heads chopped off.

There are lots and lots of good players in the portal and international that we have been communicating with simultaneously with Henri. We aren’t putting all of our eggs in the Henri basket.

And still time for others to jump into the portal. Some players wait til the backend to up their value. 🤷‍♀️
 
I understand why the players wanted to make money off of the use of their name, image and likeness, and why the courts ruled in their favor. But I hate how things are now with the portal from a fan standpoint. And if Carolina can't be successful in this new world then it will turn off a lot of fans from following it at all.

Amusingly I talked to Bill Self last night while he was at a local brewery while KU was hosting the VCU guard that torched UNC to get Hubert fired. Time is a flat circle or something.

No idea on Brown though. Rumor is Self waiting to see what Stokes does between KU and UK before making moves but prob BS.

Also, I heard Veesaar was going pro but that was before Malone happened.
