UNC basketball 2026 transfer portal

So has Juke committed somewhere? I saw that list of ten best still in the portal and he wasn't listed. I thought he was one of the best players in the portal? This shit moves too quickly to follow unless you are really paying close attention.
Don't think so. Assume its still Michigan and UT in the lead, but in portal era it could be any program out of nowhere I suppose.

He's testing the draft so he's basically telling teams leave a spot for me if I come back, and some teams can do that and some can't. Looks like UNC can't make that promise.

I’m think Tenn is out.

Got the ballhander we need. Now we need a shooter, because both Brown and Avdalas are very iffy in that regard. IC hinting that Matt Able is the most likely guy, or his teammate McNeil, because we aren't willing to wait on Juke.

And of course this is all probably for naught unless Veesaar comes back.

You don't know that we hired a good college coach. Makes zero sense to hire a coach with zero college head coaching experience, then fire him a few yrs later, then hire another coach with zero college head coaching experience and pay him almost twice as much. Especially given the Bellichick disaster so far. I'm beginning to think it's a great plan by a dookie to ruin our FB and BB programs.

Nobody has a crystal ball.

Given the choices that were actually available to North Carolina, I believe they hired the best guy. Now you have to support him fully and see if he can back up his words, because so far he's said and done all the right things.

That wasn’t from the real Rothstein account. Was a troll account.

Ugh, I'm just looking at Brown's stats. First reaction: I don't like this signing. In his last year at FDU he had more TOs than assists. Last season, he cut down his TOs a little but it's still 3.8:2.4 A:TO which is pretty bad.

If he could shoot well, that would be one thing but his shooting numbers are not encouraging -- though they have gotten better every year and his FT shooting is OK.

He does get steals, which is good.

If the lineup ends up being Brown-Able-Neo-Jarin-Veesaar

Then not bad for a brand new coach. That team is probably top 10-15

And a 6th man away from being really competitive

Hopefully whatever $ saved with Able will be spent on the bench
Is that lineup a significant upgrade over last season?

These numbers could also be a reflection of his teammates.

He’s not a sure thing but succeeding in the portal is all about projecting fit. The hope is that his efficiency will increase when he doesn’t need to be the entire offense like he was at Utah. He’s the only one we really targeted at PG - so obviously we thought he had the skill set this particular team will need. He is very good at getting in the lane. Something we missed when Elliot left.

The word is that we aren’t willing to wait on Juke and have moved on to Able. Juke may still test the waters.

This raises an interesting question -- where are these evaluations coming from? I'm guessing that most of our info on portal entries was compiled when HD was still the coach. The staff probably did it, and we retained the staff. But what is the system we are trying to fit players into?

Malone knows far better than me, of course. I've not watched film on this guy. I just wince at seeing guys with multiple years of 3 point shooting beneath 30%. I'm just tired of it, as a fan. Exhausted. Almost every year, it's the same story -- we've got a guard who can't shoot, and that bottles up the offense. And almost every year, outside shooting is our weakness and downfall. It's not that we haven't had good shooters (though we've had fewer than I'd like) -- it's that we have too many non-shooters.

Very high usage rate. 12 2FGAs and 3 3FGAs per game. Not a great shooter. Not great size. Gets to the line and shoots good FT%.
