Team has the potential to be better defensively without Henri

Hard to say they won't miss the scoring, passing, and the space he creates from the C position

We know he can't shoot but I wonder if Keita has any passing chops
Spacing is so important in today's game. I'd say that's what makes Scheyerface so effective at dook - of course they hustle on D, but he really emphasizes spacing and the opportunities it creates.

At this point i think we can be good defensively based on our length and athleticism.

But I have serious concerns regarding our ability to shoot (and create any semblance of spacing) as well as rebound. As constituted this could be the worst rebounding Heels team in recent memory...

I'd feel better with another known shooter at the 1-3. But in theory... Able, Neo, Jarin can shoot it, with some improvement

Jarin's numbers were strong to end the year. Neo's shot looks good, I'm thinking he was likely taking too many bad ones. Same goes for Brown, though I haven't seen him nearly as much

+ zero bench shooting except for what you might get from Denis and Adams. Which is anyone's guess

Can't be a worse rebounding team than last year, can it?

I would guess we will improve greatly in rebounding-if Coach gets some of the bigs he is recruiting then "being Big" may be our biggest strength

Yeah, I don't see it as inherently poor either

Unless Keita just isn't ready at all, which I suppose is possible

All the more reason they need to lock up Faye and move on to adding someone on the perimeter

It's really early, but I'm sensing this Malone guy knows what it takes to construct a modern college basketball program. UNC is behind but we're going to catch up fast!

I’ve been banging the drum that NIL money isn’t a big issue for UNC and I still believe that big picture. If we’re competing with St John’s and BYU for Faye though, I don’t think we can hang. Would be pretty surprised if are able to outbid/outmaneuver those two programs in this situation.

I have a hard time thinking when the courts ruled that players could get money from NIL deals they wanted it to turn into a free-for-all with whoever can get the most money to buy the best players with no restrictions.

I understand that these things move quickly and you want to lock players down ASAP, but the part about the transcripts still doesn’t make sense to me.

Let’s say the two sides are close to a commitment and agree big picture about role, NIL, etc. Why can the school not just say “hey this sounds great we can’t wait for you to play for us. Before we make it official tomorrow afternoon, take 35 seconds to email us your transcript. We have people standing by on our side that are familiar with this stuff check everything out to make sure it’s good to go.”?

I’ve never worked in academia and I guess it’s clearly more complicated than that, especially for guys that are transferring near the end of their college careers and have more credits to review. Just feel like there has to be a way for both sides to be more efficient when they’re coordinating this stuff.
Sometimes the issues aren’t just basic ones like number hours taken/passed, but more detailed ones concerning courses taken transferring to UNC and being on track for graduation (read: eligible to play) depending on the details of the player’s transcript.

Having players that go to a new school every year will make it tougher for every player to be eligible at any school going forward, especially as they get further into their time in college. And I imagine that the strictness of each university’s guidelines will play a part, as will willingness to allow for exemptions within programs.

If a significant number of players at a variety of schools each year commit and then have to decommit and go elsewhere due to academic eligibility issues, I think we’ll see more “pre-screening” become the norm. But until it becomes a widespread issue, I’m guessing we’ll continue to see the “commit and then figure out eligibility” approach continue.

The courts are the one(s) who keep(s) striking down NCAA attempts to regulate NIL, so I’m guessing they are ok with what they’ve done.

Of course, the courts would likely also say their role is just to apply the law, not to create a workable NIL structure/program for college sports.

I think they can do more to keep the NCAA from denying players things than they can about how they govern compensation and such.

ON3 reporting our big Center working on his GED did not come to terms with Malone-in France maybe?
St Johns looking good
