Yeah, and Caleb didn't hit those same shots the next season or really before the run at the end of that season.

Wonder if Nate Oates is going to do to Dusty May/Elliot Cadeau tonight what he did to Hubert Davis/Elliot Cadeau in 2024: knock off the No. 1 seed in the sweet 16 in a high scoring game?
 
Can y'all help me understand something? In Greg's hiring scoop from this morning he stated that, according to source(s), the further Zona goes in the tournament the harder it will be to get Lloyd to leave. Why is that? If you win a title at one school, wouldn't the next challenge be (if presented the opportunity) to win a title at another school - assuming you felt like that school could put in the support needed to win a title? Wouldn't that be a better accomplishment than winning two titles at one school?

My guess it would give Lloyd more leverage to ask for a significant raise and get it, plus it would show he doesn't have to go elsewhere to get as much resources as he needs.

I don't think it's necessarily a logic problem, it's more of an emotional connection thing.

If that's the case then I'll say meh. Yeah, he was a great coach at Florida a long time ago, and he hasn't coached a single college game in over a decade. Maybe he'll be really successful here very quickly, but there's a lot more "ifs" attached to him than to someone like Lloyd, who's still coaching in college and is a current winner.

Lloyd is definitely preferred. I feel Donovan is who it will be.

Whoever is the next coach at UNC, they will absolutely have to be really successful very quickly.

Seems to me it would be more about emotional ties and building a legacy (but also helps with leverage)

He had a great run at Florida with back to back NCAA titles. The following two seasons he missed the NCAAT followed by a string of NCAA appearances including a FF before finishing his last season with a losing record.

He won 71% of his games at Florida . He has not coached a college basketball team in the last 11 years.

If he becomes our coach that will be a big media story for certain, and here's hoping his return to college coaching is a smashing success !
 
He won BTB natties at UF. Can't discount that.

Otherwise, you cam make the case that he slightly underachieved at UF, esp in tourney
