conjecture indeed. But valid conjecture. Especially seeing what Cade did in Minnesota this year with the same coach.Conjecture. Evans was given every opportunity to succeed.

I think any of the top 10 or so candidates could do well.I don't think a lot of people want Donovan over those 3.
But, he might be the only 1 of those 3 who will take it.
Should have pooled that money on PG, in retrospect.Don’t think it is that simple. We were looking under couch cushions to get the extra $4 million to get Luka and Jarin.
If will an interesting test study if the don't get one of the top 4 names being mentioned.I think any of the top 10 or so candidates could do well.
Huber was inexperienced and ultimately just not the right person for the role and I think it has people thinking that success at North Carolina is more difficult than it is.
He is/was not the one primarily responsible for that and he's boxed in by other realities of his position.Tanner is responsible for making sure we have a hot chick before 2 AM.
I think it's a bit of a leap. If the Minny coach was all that they wouldn't have sucked so bad.conjecture indeed. But valid conjecture. Especially seeing what Cade did in Minnesota this year with the same coach.
How come some of the blame for Evans doesn't fall on Evans?Evans’ last coach, who is now Cade Tyson’s coach, knew how to get the most out of his talent.
Some of the blame for Evans may fall on Hubert and not Tanner.
Ultimately, the GM is responsible for roster construction. Maybe the Hubert tax hindered his work, and maybe his inexperience caused him to get so late at night without at least a 7.5 PG, but he has to take some of the heat for ending up in that situation. He is/was not the one primarily responsible for that and he's boxed in by other realities of his position.
It does. How come some of the blame for Evans doesn't fall on Evans?
Not at the collegiate level, that's ultimately the HC's responsibility. This isn't the pros, the GM works for the HC and the HC holds the responsibility for the roster.Ultimately, the GM is responsible for roster construction. Who knows how the hell it works. The position has to be more than just a scout who is just recommending ideas to the HC. But even in the NBA, a coach will likely have veto power over free agent signings. Not at the collegiate level, that's ultimately the HC's responsibility. That solution has worked pretty well for Duke...At some point, the primary solution can't be to have so much money you can just buy a dominant team.
I don't think dook is actually the highest NIL payroll in CBB, they are almost certainly top 5 and do a great job with their roster construction. That solution has worked pretty well for Duke...
I think that's true, but I believe raising the funds to be more competitive will be simpler if UNC hires one of the top candidatesI think any of the top 10 or so candidates could do well.

Duke laughs at NIL money...I don't think dook is actually the highest NIL payroll in CBB, they are almost certainly top 5 and do a great job with their roster construction.
It's believed that UK hadthe highest NIL roster this year and we see what that got them.![]()
Kyan Evans made Christian Keeling look like Shammond Williams.I've said this before...Kyan Evans was a "2am at the bar and I need to go home with somebody" choice after numerous other choices turned us down.
At that point, the other realistic options were handing the starting PG position to Trimble or starting Dixon from day one (or going for another risk like Evans).
I don't think you can really hold Evans against Tanner in any real way.
Well, another issue is that he shot 43% from three last year. That's why we brought him -- we knew we had Trimble and wanted more shooting. The issue was Colorado St played Evans off the ball as a small ball 2 guard. He was NOT their point guard....
So to me the "blame" lies mostly with whoever thought Evans could run pg in the ACC. And then decided to pay him millions to do so
