UNC Basketball Possible coaches

Bill Self was pretty happy at Illinois before he left for Kansas
Sure. It’s not going to surprise me if Lloyd or TJO takes our job either. I just think some people underrate how hard it is to get a guy to leave when he’s already in a good situation competing at the highest level. Look at UK’s coaching search if you need an example that a blue blood can’t just snap its fingers and get whoever it wants.

Also, Self had only been at Illinois 3 years and the KU program he took over was in much better shape than the current UNC program.

Sherrell said and I completely agree with him, this search is about getting the absolute best coach we can (2021 was about getting the best fit), and so, we'll see just how strong of a program we have - is it really the best job in MBB coaching, or not. It will be telling who we end up hiring and who turns us down.

Part of what I’m saying is UNC could be the best job in college bball, and it still wouldn’t guarantee us getting who we want. People act like it’s a math problem - that if a coach is in the 4th best job or the 7th best job and gets offered the best job he will automatically take it. But that’s not how it works in real life. TJO or Lloyd turning down our job doesn't mean their job is a better one, or that ours isn't as good as we hoped, it just might mean they are happy and successful where they are and don’t want to move to take ANY job right now.

Right. The "best job" is based on the wants and needs of those seeking the jobs.

Sure, but if we strike out on a few big names, I think it will say something about how Carolina basketball is viewed by the basketball community.
