UNC Basketball Possible coaches

If it is true that the donors said that they would have withheld donations to NIL and that caused the University to make the decision it made, that is very disappointing. I don't like that they have that kind of power over the university and its sports programs, but as far as complaining about it, that ship has sailed.

If it is not true, than it really begs the question: why do this now? A rushed transition has a much higher chance of a bad outcome than a longer, more planned-out one (in my opinion). It sounds like next season is likely to be a write-off either way. To me, the safer thing would have been to let Coach Davis play out next year and spend the time putting a strong plan in place to get the right coach in place.

I just don't get why the outcome of one game was so earth-shattering: if we had won that tournament game, presumably Coach Davis would be the coach next year. But because he lost, he absolutely had to go? Many people here were really high on Coach Lloyd for next year (I was certainly excited by the prospect). If we had signed a contract with him and then he lost the semifinal game, would that have made it a bad hire?

Not sure what UNC could have done differently. HD and Tanner predicted it would cost around 15 million to put a competitive roster together. Next year UNC will be able to invest 7.5 million into NIL-rev share, the rest would have to come from outside. If that is not coming in, then it would have been so much worse for them to retain HD and have him go out there in such a miserable situation.

Terrible comment from the mother of a 4 year senior team captain.

I've never heard Hubert accused of over coaching before.
yeah, as you know i think we had to move on from HD but that's just a weird cheap shot.

her kid had every opportunity. wasn't the word that the staff essentially thought that we couldn't have both of trimble and cadeau this season and HD picked trimble?

Yeah, that's a weird take from Seth's mom.

Seth certainly knew who HD was by the end of his sophomore year, yet he agreed to come back 2 more years.

At some point, even if you believe something, keeping your mouth shut is probably the best idea.
