UNC football plays competitive schedules most years. Much more so than NC state. Look at who Georgia has played this year. That said, I believe there is backstory with uncc but can't remember. Any how, at least we are helping a fellow UNC system member.

I think it is probably closer to 80%. Richmond is a good bit better than Charlotte, but we are at home and I keep holding out hope, perhaps naively, that Bill can actually improve this team.

FWIW, Sagarin projects an 18 point spread, which would make an 88% win probability.
I think it’s a big leap to say that Richmond is a good bit better than Charlotte. At best you can probably make the case they’re “as good as” Charlotte, a team we just beat 20-3 on the road in the biggest on campus sporting event in Charlotte’s school history.

I can buy Sagarin’s 88% but I think 80% is a bridge too far.

In general I appreciate that UNC tries to put together competitive non-conference schedules. Just think we can do that without going on the road to places like App State, Ga St., and especially UNCC. Very few P4 teams schedule games like that, for a reason.

You want to knowhow stupid I am? Well it wasn't until about 60m seconds ago that I realized that this entire thread is about the football game between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, played in Charlotte, NC. I has assumed that game was merely a pretext for a thread discussing the pros and cons of UNC-C. And I legitimately thought the thread tilte was for UNC at Charlotte, shortened to UNC@Charlotte. Every time I reviewed the thread, the posts were mostly about the game and the team, really nothing about UNC-C. Damn, I am stupid.
And there is no hyphen in UNCC

Honestly though we didn’t spend enough time in this thread talking about how stupid it is that UNC ever scheduled a game @ UNCC in the first place.

Seriously, how many other power conference teams are playing road games against low level G5 teams in high school stadiums?
Didn’t the legislature dictate that UNC and NC State must play the other D1 football programs in the state (ECU, UNCC, App St) home and home on some sort of rotating schedule?

ETA: the bill didn’t pass, but “One of the bill's authors said the goal is more to force the schools into compliance on their own rather than get an actual law on the books. The bill would also require annual games in men's and women's basketball.”

Sagarin would have Richmond as a five point favorite over Charlotte on a neutral field. Richmond is ranked considerably above Charlotte in every metric ranking service.

Also, Charlotte could have easily had two more TDs if the players caught balls and didn’t trip over their own feet.
