Out of all the things that are frustrating about this season, the stubborn refusal to give anybody else more burn at QB whether it be Johnson, Newkirk, or the shadow of Rod Elkins, just seems to underline that the coaching staff was more worried about something else besides winning. Who knows what the result would have been, but when you consider how UNC struggled to score time and time again against not great defenses, it is baffling that someone else was not given a chance. I know Max got the start against Clemson but the defense made sure that game was over after one quarter. Cannot help wonder if Johnson (or Newkirk if he had gotten some playing time against TCU, Richmond, Charlotte, UCF) would have helped generate more points against Cal, UVa, Weak, Dook. Yes, the OL was a big problem but Max tonight seemed to get rid of the ball a lot quicker than Gio. And ran for yards far better than I thought he could.

Id hate to be the rams club trying to market that trip to Ireland. You could not pay me to waste a trip to Ireland by watching us get railed by TCU.
Hopefully, Steve Newkirk is on the phone and getting us out of that game. We absolutely need to schedule down next year. We could be 100% better next year and have a worse record if we don’t soften our schedule.

Look at Gio's stats. Seriously. No INTs and 6 TDs in last five games. With no running game at all.

Gio has been really good since Syracuse. No INTs. 5 TDs. All games over 20

He had no INTs because he refuses to throw unless a receiver is wide open. That is not good QB play. Everything he does is late.

His stats looked slightly better because we were playing awful defenses for the most part.

There is no way we're dropping the TCU game in Ireland.

That kind of game is scheduled 15-18 months out and thousands & thousands of ticket packages have been sold and travel plans made.

If you back out of that game at this juncture, you don't get asked to any other premiere games until you are so good you can't be left out...which will likely be never for us.

I bet anyone who bought a UNC package would gladly accept a refund. And who cares if we ever get invited to Ireland again. That should be a complete nonconsideration in right sizing the schedule for next year.

He the Nascar ad? I dont know his name but I assume that's who you are referring to. I doubt someone with a NASCAR background would view any publicity as bad so I wouldn't expect that tact.

Wow. Completed 65 percent over that time with 6 TDs and no INTs. Meanwhile we are averaging about 50 yards a game rushing and gio is problem?

It will happen right after we tell Belichick we're firing him because we were so bad this season.

Yes. Gio is a problem. He’s not good. He’s a poor enough QB that the opposing defense doesn’t have to worry much about UNC’s passing game.

The OL, HC, and OC (and the offensive staff) are problems. Possibly bigger problems than Gio.

We’re 4-8 (2-6) against a WEAK schedule.

EVERYTHING is a big problem.

I don't think you understand football.

Completion percentage is a worthless stat. It is all about efficiency. It is very easy to complete a three yard pass to a RB, but it is not very efficient.

6TDs is pathetic. That would just be a good game for Sam Howell.

And I’ve already explained why he doesn’t throw any interceptions. He always waits until the receiver is open before he throws it. A good QB throws the receiver open - he doesn’t wait for the receiver to get open.

This team had lots and lots of problems. But problem no 1 and the absolute top priority for the off season is QB.
