Don’t think that’s likely unfortunately. We’ve got Tommy, Jason, and now Greg chiming in on the thread on IC saying this one wasn’t about money.I'm hoping we can convince Tyler Thompson to come back

We can't offer him a Ben & Jerrys cuz Trimble already has that locked up. Hmm. So was it about playtime/scheme, like did we tell him we were bringing in a starting-level WSDE/OLB to compete with him? Or just being miserable in this program?Don’t think that’s likely unfortunately. We’ve got Tommy, Jason, and now Greg chiming in on the thread on IC saying this one wasn’t about money.
Good questions, I’m definitely not sure myself, but reading between the lines in what folks like Tommy, Greg, Jason, and Ben have said is that a lot of guys are generally miserable in the program and don’t really like Belichick, and especially don’t like Lombardi. We can't offer him a Ben & Jerrys cuz Trimble already has that locked up. That thread made me sad.I think it’s hilarious that our GM is universally disliked by quite literally every single solitary person in the entire football universe, except for the one single solitary person who ensures that he remains employed. If the things that Ben, Greg, Tommy, Buck, and Jason imply or intimate are true, Lombardi is single-handedly bleeding the UNC Football program. Not even Bill Belichick is unlikable enough to cause this many internal cultural issues be so prevalent, so it is stunning that someone like him who is arguably one of the greatest football minds of all time, can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to his GM.
It feels like the board has gotten wayyyy worse over the last several months. That thread made me sad.
It also reinforced for me that the worst thing about IC is a number of the message board posters.
A lot of annoying posters moved to ICOn3 and a lot stayed at 247 and somehow both boards got worse. It feels like the board has gotten wayyyy worse over the last several months.
Except for a lot of posters here, of course. Y'all are, on the whole, a pretty cool group.Agreed. Posters that aren't me are generally annoying.
I think IC got considerably better when a lot of the trolls stayed behind at 247. Some of the trolls have come back, but overall, it is a considerably better site since the move.A lot of annoying posters moved to ICOn3 and a lot stayed at 247 and somehow both boards got worse.
I have no idea how that works, but I'm pretty sure it's true.
The GM position is not one that makes a lot of friends with the players. Some of the griping might be inherent in the position. That said, the degree of griping suggests this goes beyond normal player/GM tension. One of our recent transfer portal departures is a kid that played at the high school I attended, and one of my former HS classmates is actually an assistant coach with the football team there. I texted him to see what the heck is going on because I knew that the kid who left, he and his family were always huge UNC fans. The response that I got was that "y'all have a shitshow going on over there in your program with the front office people." Obviously that's incredibly vague (and the guy isn't a UNC fan himself from what I remember, let's put it that way, so I have to take it with a huge grain of salt). I'll try to see if he'd be willing to provide further context but I'm guessing not.
At any rate, it at least makes me feel that it's more probable what Ben, Buck, Greg, Tommy, and Jason are alluding to with regard to Lombardi being a cancer in the program.
George Carlin: There are only two types of drivers on the road, maniacs and assholes. If the're driving faster than me they're a maniac, and if they're driving slower than me they're an asshole!Agreed. Posters that aren't me are generally annoying.
I can't believe IC makes you pay to participate on the message boards now.A lot of annoying posters moved to ICOn3 and a lot stayed at 247 and somehow both boards got worse.

Yeah, that first sentence is a totally fair point. But I do think you're right, there definitely seems to be something "off" more so than what would be expected to be normal. The GM position is not one that makes a lot of friends with the players. Some of the griping might be inherent in the position. That said, the degree of griping suggests this goes beyond normal player/GM tension.
Anyone with common sense could have seen this coming as soon as Belichick and Lombardi were hired. Belichick has always acted like a dick but it was okay when he was winning with Brady, at least for Patriots fans. I never liked his demeanor and always thought he just lucked out with Brady and having good players around him. It was a dumb hire to begin with and mostly done just to get a buzz going for the program and even political reasons.Good questions, I’m definitely not sure myself, but reading between the lines in what folks like Tommy, Greg, Jason, and Ben have said is that a lot of guys are generally miserable in the program and don’t really like Belichick, and especially don’t like Lombardi.
It’s definitely a red flag that within the last couple of days we have lost two local kids who grew up Tar Heel fans in Malcolm Ziglar and now Tyler Thompson, and it seems that for neither of them was it a money thing. Obviously not every player in the program is miserable, and obviously there are plenty of high school recruits who don’t seem to think that the program is miserable, so who knows what the real truth of the matter is. It’s probably somewhere in the middle, as it usually is.
