His name was floated a few months ago and there were those saying he started the rumor. It was in connection with the giants. He released statement that was roundly ridiculed in here. Ring a bell?
That was for the NY Giants job, though, right? Any interest from the Falcons would be new I would think, since Raheem Morris was fired yesterday. Arthur Blank apparently strongly considered hiring Belichick in 2023 but was apparently talked out of it by the GM Terry Fontenant (whom he just fired yesterday) and several other prominent front office personnel, as well as by Bob Kraft. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Blank wants to take another stab at it and handle the hiring himself this time, since the last two HC's at ATL have been fired after only 2 years apiece. He desperately wants to win a Super Bowl, and Bill has won 6 as HC.

I sincerely doubt there will be significant NFL interest in Belichick, because there was no such interest the last two offseasons and the UNC debacle can't have helped his chances in that regard. But man, would it be great if someone took him off our hands .

Yeah, I'm hopeful but not optimistic at all. Even if we were to (very) charitably grant that the NFL wouldn't necessarily care as much about his record last year at UNC, it's hard to see what incentive any NFL team would have to hire someone who is 74-years-old and who had a very well-publicized ignominious end to his Patriots tenure. I understand why his name still comes up for fans in speculative fashion with regard to NFL openings- he won 6 Super Bowls as an NFL HC- but it's difficult to see any NFL team actually making the move. I'm going to allow myself to hold out a tiny bit of hope that Arthur Blank does it as an 'eff you' to his front office, or that Tom Brady convinces Davis that the Raiders should replace one over-the-hill has-been with another, but the prospects are probably dim.

You think Belichick would be worse than Carroll?
Honestly, who knows?

The similarities in failure over this season are pretty immense...nepotism, hubris, taking shortcuts, unfulfilled expectations.

To be fair, though, the Raiders are the epitome of a badly run organization and I would be pretty surprised if anyone succeeds there in the near future.
