Do you think everyone in the media are lying about these allegations?
What allegations? That we aren't very good? That a players mom said things were unorganized? That a players parent got in sidelines. That a player was shoved out of program? I think BB is being taken down from inside and media is glad to run with every story knowing UNC can't even respond. This is an attack in UNC. The question is will administration use this to push him out and not pay him millions to go away. I got no idea. But I think UNC football on verge of being fucked for long time and deCock is jacking off. That is what I think.

And instead of blaming the people who fucked UNC football you, a longtime member of the media, are blaming the media for doing their job. That's what I don't get. You're shooting the messenger instead of being mad at the selfish dipshits who are making us look bad. Both on and off the field.

This stuff is coming from Tommy Ashley and Andrew Jones as much as WRAL and N&O. You think Tommy and Andrew have been dying for a chance to take down UNC football? Seriously?

This is not a difficult situation to understand. Belichick and Lombardi hoodwinked our administration (who is absolutely not blameless) into buying their vision of UNC as a pro program. Then they didn't do their homework, arrogantly assumed they were better than college football, and ignored almost every key detail about college football in trying to just do things the way they always did. And now we have a steaming pile of dog crap for a football program. One that Belichick and Lombardi authored 100%. And all you can is blame the media for reporting on the flaming wreckage of our high-profile failed experiment?

Come on man. That's weak.

That seems far-fetched.
It does?

It sounds to me like absolute par for the course for someone who has been known for 25 years to be an insufferable, self-centered asshole who is impossible to deal with even when the team is winning. If you think that it sounds out of character for Bill Belichick to tell a player who can’t contribute on the field that he isn’t part of the team, we’ve been reading about and observing different Bill Belichick’s for the last two decades. Dude cut starting players and benched starters for Super Bowls for bizarre reasons. Telling an injured college player to take a hike seems well within his wheelhouse.

Also, who do you think is lying about that? Andrew Jones? The player (or source) who told him? Seems like a very oddly specific thing to make up out of thin air.

I'll pull this tiny snippet from Andrew Jones' reporting:

"It's much worse behind the scenes than what we all see publicly. Families are highly upset. Players don't respect the head coach for many reasons, some of which are obvious; the vibe is completely dead in the KFC; and the level of arrogance by the leaders in the program has turned off so many people at the university and families."

@heel79 those former players you talked with may not be as plugged in as you think

This administration is incompetent. Sort of like DC where the folks in charge of everything are claiming they are the victims and folks like 79 and Zen are backing up their ineptitude? WTF?!?
Yea. I'm MAGA. Love trump.

I’m legitimately stunned that 79 is doing this. Even thought it was a bit he was doing initially. This is bizarre.

Yeah, it’s the media that’s tearing down UNC football. The media. Not the dipshits in charge of hiring a dipshit, who hired other dipshits, to coach and lead our football program. It’s the media. It’s Luke DeCock writing mean things about UNC football.

Good Lord I’ve seen it all.

Andrew Jones on Tar Heels 247 reporting that, per sources inside the program, an injured player had his access to the facilty removed right before fall camp started, and he was told he could come back in a year but had to do rehab on his own, and that he was no longer a part of the program since he could not help the team on the field this fall.
I hope he was able to keep his scholarship. And I do see his name here Directory Search

How does this differ from the "medical redshirt" departures that happened in your day? I've assumed some players were forced into medical redshirts, how did those things get posed?

Belichick doesn't need anyone in the media to "take him down" - he's been doing a great job of that all by himself. His behavior both on and off the field has made him into a laughingstock, and given his fame it was always going to be a national news story. Hell, a main reason he was hired was because of the hope that his name and celebrity would bring favorable national publicity to the school. Instead it's done just the opposite. I said before the season started that if we didn't do well then the national sports media would have a field day, especially given his embarrassing romantic relationship and the number of friends and family members he's hired to run the program, and so it has come to pass. And I was hardly the only person here who said that. Why anyone is surprised or upset by the negative national publicity we're getting is beyond me.

Blaming the media is MAGA Delusion /Deflection 101.

Of course you’re not, but you seem to have so much residual hatred for the Raleigh media from the “paper class scandal” that it doesn’t permit you to see the current situation for what it is.

On second thought, hatred is too strong, let’s amend it to animosity you have for the Raleigh sports media.

Great question. From my experience, players who took medical redshirts still had the same exact access to the facility, the sports medicine staff, the trainers, the football dining hall, the weight room, etc. as everyone else.

Easy target and way more interesting to dissect than something like age difference of his gf. This will go on after every game, win or loss, all yr unless we have a massive streak of wins.

A poster on IC went through Belichick's contract and tried to find all the places that he could be fired "with cause". Most of it, in my opinion, was much ado about nothing, but I did find one contract stipulation interesting in this regard...

BB contract pg 3.jpeg

"Cultivate and maintain effective relations with students, faculty, staff, and friends of the University, promote academic integrity of the institution, and refrain from actions that bring material reputational harm or public ridicule upon the University or the Coach."

To me, the underlined could be in play here. Could Coach Belichick with his nepotism hires, his very public relationship with a woman 50 years his junior and the repeated "scandals" that have resulted, and the now leaking reports of dissension within the program have created a situation where he has brought "material reputational harm or public ridicule upon the University or the Coach"? I think we might be in range of it being a plausible claim.

And I'm not sure it would have to hold up in court if it could be used to get Belichick (and staff?) to take significant buyout reductions to agree to go away somewhat quietly. Given where we are now (and assuming things do not materially improve by the end of the season), would it be worth it to the University to pay $5-7m to get everyone on this staff to exit stage left and let us move on to a different hire?

I think it might be something worth exploring for the University.
Sooo, who is going to steal some keys so we can deflate some balls?

I'll respond then gone. Tired.
I worked in media so I know about agenda driven coverage. N&O got ass handed to it and us pissed.

Because ifllof staff size very little real reporting being done. Most of this is phone calls with stories from disgruntled people near or in program with little chance for other side.
This is happening because of on field product which is disappointing and BB and staff deserve much blame blame. Adding as you wish The whiff at QB was huge.
I keep reading that BB failure ilon all levels. Not true. Recruiting is very good and we have a lot of money.

The stuff from Andrew worries me. It's much worse than Tilommy but we also know that their access was limited.

But my point mostly is this is a pile in assault on UNC by Raleigh media and yes national media is joining in because going to get clicks. I want BB to succeed because that is best for unc and that is what I want.

I don't fault anyone in here for disagreeing with my opinion. That is fine. I think the frenzy N&O goes after us and it's looking the other way on a trainer at NC state fondling male athletes is telling and it angers me. I see this as an attack on UNC. I do.

Clearly there are issues. Do I think they are being inflated? I do.

That's fair. I went after them hard. They went after us hard. And me.

I know you care about UNC football. We all do. But I mean this honestly: I think you're missing the forest for the trees. You're focusing on ancillary details rather than the lead story. The major headline, which in no way is being driven by the Raleigh media, is that Belichick and Lombardi have royally fucked our football program through their arrogance, incompetence, and complete and utter disregard for UNC and its football team except as a vessel to advance their own ambition. My personal opinion is that our admin should have been smarter than to fall for their BS in the first place, but they weren't, and so here we are.

At this point there is no more point in hoping that Belichick is the answer. He isn't. There is a ton of objective evidence that he isn't. He is, instead, the principal cause of our current mis fortune. So instead of directing your anger at the local media for not cheerleading hard enough or being too mean-spirited in reporting what sources are telling them, I would suggest you blame the people who actually fucked up. If, psychologically, you're still too invested in hoping that the BB experiment somehow works to get to that point, I understand.
