What was your role when you say you worked "with" those coaches? Just curious. Did you play a varsity sport at UNC?And I am telling you that my personal experience is different. I was at Carolina for Mack 1.0. I was there for Torbush and Bunting. I worked for Mike Roberts and Mike Fox. I worked with Coach Smith, Coach Gut, and Doherty. I worked with Anson, Sylvia and others. I have never seen one of them take vacations or off days mid season. I just didn't see it. None of us did. Its a 7 day a week business.
Yeah, I forgot about that TD. Biggest tease ever? We were like, "Fuck yeah, BB is awesome!" Then that feeling started to, well, what's the word, dissipate. We’ll always have that first touchdown of the season that he scored on the opening drive vs TCU. Great kid, awesome family, Tar Heel for life.
I don’t see why the head coach needs to be the one taking trips to Nantucket with his sugarbaby to evaluate potential HS talent—particularly in the midst of a season in which his current team is in shambles and his short tenure has been marred by constant drama off the field.UNC has already signed two high-3-star players from MA.
I just don't see why you'd want to limit your pool, given the current state.
All of UNC fandom had an hour of excitement before the game -- like Judgment Day '97 excitement -- and then 15 minutes during the game. (At least in Judgment Day, there was still a glimmer of hope in the 3d Q).Yeah, I forgot about that TD. Biggest tease ever? We were like, "Fuck yeah, BB is awesome!" Bill Belichick pledged an NFL approach at North Carolina. Program insiders call it flawed

Anyone that doesn’t see that this charade is over is choosing not to see it.
Again, can you provide links to these posts? It was posted by several people that he skipped either some or all of the practice on Thursday to go on vacation. Do I *know* that is true? No, but given everything else we have read about this regime, I have no reason to disbelieve it.
Whether it would have been better if it were a short working vacation, -- probably. But I'd still have an issue with him wasting time in Massachusetts. The Northeast talent is owned by the Big10. Also, and this would be a must, do not be filmed window shopping with your 24 year old girlfriend during a bye week in the middle of the season. You know the media is circling like sharks. Yet, you demonstrate the bad judgment to create an entire news cycle of embarrassing press for you and the program. That does not help recruiting. It does not help you win college football games.
Pretty sure all coaches, including head coaches, go out recruiting. Dan Mullins was fired for basically not going out enough.I don’t see why the head coach needs to be the one taking trips to Nantucket with his sugarbaby to evaluate potential HS talent—particularly in the midst of a season in which his current team is in shambles and his short tenure has been marred by constant drama off the field.
We have recruiting coordinators, position coaches, and highlight reels for a reason.
I suppose if you just ignore the entirety of the current situation at UNC, there’s nothing wrong with BB going our recruiting…Pretty sure all coaches, including head coaches, go out recruiting. Dan Mullins was fired for basically not going out enough.
One of the biggest worries when BB was hired was if he’d actually go out recruiting.
This might be the fourth time I've said this "I agree with you completely about the optics." I suppose you don't read the posts before responding.I suppose if you just ignore the entirety of the current situation at UNC, there’s nothing wrong with BB going our recruiting…
I specified that context is key. You responded by ignoring the context. So…This might be the fourth time I've said this "I agree with you completely about the optics." I suppose you don't read the posts before responding.
Context wasn't necessary as I'd already made the same comment three times prior. Getting back to him taking a trip to MA, I guess I'd prefer he continues to try to bring in talent than not.I specified that context is key. You responded by ignoring the context. So…

I ask this seriously, not trying to be snarky: roughly how much more abysmal play on the field and drama off the field would you need to see before you’d reach that point? I usually think that coaches deserve some benefit of the doubt at least into their second season, but this situation has been an easy exception for me.Context wasn't necessary as I'd already made the same comment three times prior. I have no gripe towards people calling it what it has been so far, a shit-show, and pointing out reasons for it being a shit-show. I don't think him going out recruiting on a bye week is part of the reason for the shit-show. I'm in the camp of giving more time to see if things can get turned around, rather than deeming it an unfixable failure and blowing it up. I know many folks have made up their mind that it's not fixable, I'm just not there yet...maybe after Cal, who knows.
Let's not oversell it. I've never been as excited for anything else in my whole life as I was pre-kickoff of Judgment Day.All of UNC fandom had an hour of excitement before the game -- like Judgment Day '97 excitement -- and then 15 minutes during the game.
I know it seems like it, feels like it, etc., but I don't think they played worse against Clemson. Clemson just has so much more talent than any team they've played. If they are playing better against Cal, and continue playing better, building traction, and so on, then I'd say see how the transfer portal season goes and make a decision after that. If things are stagnant (or worse) then after a few more games I'll be on y'alls side. For me, it's not necessarily winning games, even if the team looks the same but starts winning, I'd lose any kind of hope getting it turned around. On the flip side, if they start playing better and better each week, but still are losing, then I think I'll still have hope.I ask this seriously, not trying to be snarky: roughly how much more abysmal play on the field and drama off the field would you need to see before you’d reach that point? I usually think that coaches deserve some benefit of the doubt at least into their second season, but this situation has been an easy exception for me.
From the other perspective of someone that wants the plug pulled on this as soon as we reasonably can, I’d need to see the following results at minimum to even think about changing my mind: beat Cal and Stanford (both terrible teams), Cuse (starting QB out for season), Wake, and then find a way to steal at least one against UVA, Dook, State. Before the season started I think most people would have agreed that 7 wins against one of the easiest schedules in all of P4 was more than reasonable for Belichick. He’s dug himself into a hole to be sure, but to quote Don Draper: that’s what the money is for.
Compare how we performed against Clemson and how Syracuse and Troy performed against Clemson. It is not pretty. TCU may well have been our high water mark of the season.I know it seems like it, feels like it, etc., but I don't think they played worse against Clemson. Clemson just has so much more talent than any team they've played.
