Kinda sobering that Penn State could find $56M to fire their coach who had them in the national semifinals just a year ago and a buyout of $20M is too exorbitant for UNC. I don’t even mean that as a dig at all- just a stark reminder and reality check of where we are in terms of resources and seriousness in comparison to actual football schools.

Franklin had also been there many years, with building resentment at his inability to win the big one. I think part of the problem with the Bill experiment is that it has been so short.

That said, if we continue to produce turd burgers every weekend, I don't think Bill will survive.
 
UNC needs to go get him now before someone else does and they are stuck with Belichick another season.

Another reason why UNC needs to get out of the ACC.

No doubt some of it is the difference in money, but as the quoted post by Snoop stated I also think some of it is simple stubbornness and pride and ego on the part of the UNC trustees and administrators who stuck their necks out to hire Belichick and allow him to hire this staff and GM and pay him so much money. I get wanting to give him more time to see if things get any better this season, but I also don't doubt that some of this is due to a number of pro-Belichick people at UNC who are not going to admit they've made a mistake until they are left with no other options or choices, as to do so would be a confession of error and might well reduce their power and influence at the school and on the BOT. So they'll likely ride this horse (or clown car show, depending upon how you're already feeling about Belichick) to the bitter end. If he can turn things around they'll take full credit for hiring him (as they should) but even if he can't then we're likely still stuck with him until someone forces them to make a change.

Completely disqualifying. I’m at a point now where I don’t think I would ever have it in me to cheer against UNC but I’m getting to a point where it’s literally impossible to cheer for this team to win under this coaching regime. UNC deserves every ounce of public ridicule, humiliation, and embarrassment that comes with this. I feel no qualms whatsoever about saying that. Not sure how anyone can read that about how he and Lombard are treating people and not feel shame. I certainly do.

Amazing that people like Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Mike Fox, Scott Forbes, Mack Brown (1.0), Anson Dorrance, Jenny Levy, etc. have managed to treat people really well AND win big at Carolina through the years. Who knew all you had to do was to be a contemptuous asshole who treats 18-22 year old kids and their families like disposable assets!

And the longer it goes the longer it will take to turn things around when Belichick is finally gone, so they will just end up wasting seasons.
