id be happy if we could get franklin for a million a yr otherwise fuck hiring another recycled coach for multi millions. just stupid stupid stupid.
The multi-millions is worth it if we get culture change across the entire program, bonus if you do it without negative press. TBD if this first part actually happens during BB's tenure.

you get culture change by winning. you win with better players. every great coach will tell you they were great because they had great players. its pay for play so spend on talent not coaches....especially not coaches older than some rocks.

If Lombardi is the problem, then Belichick is the real problem. BB picked him, hired him, insisted on him, and turned the program over to him.
Right. Lombardi is not there because Belichick think he's the smartest personnel guy in the world. He's there because Bill controls him, he knows what Bill wants in players, and he will do whatever Bill wants him to do.

So it turns out UNC had no conversations with Chandler Morris. That is according to Morris and BB.
I'm quite sure there was a meeting between Lombardi and someone in player personnel regarding Morris and Lombardi said exactly what is attributed to him in the Athletic.

I'm also quite sure that we could have gotten Morris over Browne in the winter portal if we had tried.

Yea. Because there has been no erroneous reporting on UNC. I deleted thread because I realized no point.

I've been meaning to ask you this, and this is in all sincerity and without any snark, sarcasm, or agenda whatsoever outside of genuine curiosity. Do you think that all of the erroneous reporting on UNC football is a result of media outlets/individual journalists outright lying or making things up out of thin air, or do you think that it's a result of a lot of disgruntled folks internally who are leaking information that the media/journalists are then running with?

Both. How does a reporter find out a parent got sideline pass? Also talked to people inside the program who share this belief. On the media side I think there are plenty willing to run with this anti BB narrative.

Gotcha. Yeah, I was going to say, I feel pretty confident that everything that most of what has been reported has been the result of leaks that come from either inside the program itself or at least within the athletics department. Whether those leaking sources are telling the whole truth or are exaggerating the truth is a different question, but I feel sure that it's not individual journalists or media members outright lying or making up stories. I *do* think that many are enjoying having the opportunity to pile on Belichick.

Don't exclude the idea that some journalists very close to the program are part of this. An example is the WRAL reporting when Pat what's his name went on Dan Patrick show and said he had called UNC to ask if Caleb hood was on team. Couple of hours later calen released statement of his retirement. Pat certainly was suggesting something nefarios. The likely scenario is someone called and said Caleb was retiring, which makes sense since he is fifth year senior and has history of injuries. The implication was that BB forced out Caleb. In Caleb's retirement I believe he thanked three people. Belichick, Lombardi and kitchens. In the interview pat did not mention that.

I am quite confident the NY Times/Athletic is not just making up facts. These stories are sourced.

When there is a "denial" after the fact, it is often the denial that is more likely to be fabricated and/or true through hypertechnicalities.

You seem to have no reporter's skepticism about the denials and extreme skepticism about the sourced reporting. I think you should reverse those biases.
