I disagree. Look at the recruiting for UNC basketball in 2010, 2023.

Not knowing who’s going to be the coaches hurts it more.

Why would I root for UNC to lose? I went to UNC and live in Chapel Hill. Don’t question ppls fandom on what is ostensibly a UNC message board. I went to the game last Saturday. While the defensive line was very impressive, it was the worst offensive performance i’ve seen since the 2009 UVA game when we started a guy on the ol that was a DT like 2 weeks prior. I’m glad we’ve beaten a lacrosse player QB and stanford but we have to beat a team with a pulse for me to think this is anything other than a failure and i’m sure if the dumbass powers that be would be honest, they’d say the same. Will see if Bill makes the requisite changes going forward but Not playing one of the freshman now that their redshirts are preserved seems like malpractice and not a promising sign towards that

Look at the recruiting for UNC football now. While yes it is around historical average we are trending well. A month ago when most everyone, including me, felt BB had to go, the fear was the class would fall apart. It has gotten better despite the "shit show."

why wouldnt the 'goat' be able to recruit at better than average? what are we paying him top 10 $ for?what are we paying the entire staff $20 mil ayear for? cant compare recruiting to 1999 its a totally different ballgame esp with all the $ we have committed. the only shit show has been on the field courtesy of billy the goat.

he needs to start winning today......he has no one to blame but himself. redirect all the blame you want....its 100% on billy the goat if he doesnt get it done. the 'goat' is supposed to be able to overcome and adapt. stop blaming everybody but billy the goat.

Who am I blaming? I have said repeatedly we whiffed in portal. Positives are defense,ST, we are cash rich. Negative is woeful offense and QB play. We can get into the why in the offense but ultimately that is a failure of BB and Lombardi. They need to fix it. Meanwhile I have seen a team that has gotten better. I'm very interested in how we perform today.
Also if you listen to BB press conference there is a lot of self reflection and I expect significant staff changes.

fair enough. even if we perform well today vs 65th ranked wf there are no moral victories like uva. billy the $10+ mil goat needs to start winning nothing else matters and nothing to blame but billy himself...not ic not 247 not n&o etc

I personally would consider 8-5 to be a very good turnaround. Some of us simply want to see that actually happen before we blindly buy in, that’s all.

You used Mack’s team’s always regressing as a counter point in another comment. Let’s not forget that during this exact point of last season they were in the midst of absolutely drilling some of the conference bottom dwellers. By Thanksgiving weekend was anyone feeling warm and fuzzy about how the season ended up playing out?

I have not blamed media for any of the issues plaguing UNC. I blamed some media for outright lies and distortions that I think are now stipulated and threatened the program. Obvious the program has to get better before good or great. We are taking small steps in that direction. Mostly I am excited about recruiting.

I didn't mean to imply that his teams always regressed, but that he had the program headed in the wrong direction from where it was prior. BB has the team headed in the right direction from where it started. Can he continue the upward trend with the program, who knows. But, as I've said since the beginning, I don't understand why some folks want to declare it a failure already.

thats your opinion which is a moot point because we have billy the $10+ goat coaching not a vacancy. we had a fb opening after 2007 in fb and had a great 2008 recruiting. no excuses as to why billy the $10+ mil goat shouldnt be recruiting at a very high level as current unc coach. stop with the insane excuses for him...he has greatly under performed all things considered hold him accountable instead of blowing him off 24/7. i assure you he couldnt give one rats ass about you.

You seem to just want to argue. It's pretty clear that not winning on the field is not the biggest deterrent to recruiting. I cited two examples, and there are many many more. You also seem to like to try to put words in my mouth. I never said anything at all that would even give anyone the slightest sense that I am making excuses for their current recruiting - in fact, they're recruiting really well right now, given not winning the majority of their games.

I am a Letterman at UNC. I worked in the athletic department for years. The current head baseball coach has been my best friend for 20 years and we lived together for a long while when both were poor working at Carolina right out of school. I am a scholarship donor and a season ticket holder in all sports in spite of giving away far more tickets than I can use. I host tailgate parties for literally hundreds of people and pay our of pocket for it all just to help create atmosphere. I live in the same home i bought in 2005 becaus every spare penny goes to Chapel Hill. I have attended nearly every game played in Kenan since 1995. Asking me if I want unc to lose is worse to me than insulting my family. Thinking that I might be petty enough in my dislike of our head football coach to root against my alma mater...absolutely unthinkable.

There are a lot of things that can be questioned about me...my character, my beliefs, my politics, whatever else you like. But don't ever question my devotion to the University of North Carolina. I owe everything I am as an adult to the school and to the athletic department specifically.

I did not know that about you, thank you for sharing.

I never questioned your devotion to the University of North Carolina, nor did I ask you if you want UNC to lose or say you root against UNC. I simply asked, "Would you prefer UNC to continue improving under BB or turn into a shitshow and BB get fired?" Given your history with the university, that I now know, I think this is an easy answer. You'd prefer the team to keep improving under BB. My point was that I don't think your stance is shared by some here. I think they'd prefer BB gone, even if it means that the team would need to backslide first.

While I can appreciate your level of irritation/anger last night (even better now), we've all been there before, let's keep the threats out of the conversation.
