If you believe all that and that Preyer wasn’t the main driver of this hire, I hope you never reply to an email from a Nigerian prince.
I’ve laid out the sequence of events as plainly as I can. At this point, if you still believe that Preyer hired Bill then I’d likewise hope you are not shopping for Nigerian headwear.

Recruiting is positive. Our dline has been positive and we get 7 of 8 back. The team continues to fight when many predicted they would mail it in. That's positive. The negatives are in bold. I am rooting for this staff because they aren't going anywhere soon.
I am glad that the staff didn’t have a complete mutiny after 5 games (not sure that’s a positive though). The defensive line has been fine, peaked a few weeks ago imo and were manhandled by Wake. The recruiting has been slightly better than our historical average for first year coaches and given how much we’re paying, is fine. Everything else has been pretty much a disaster. We’re all pulling for it to succeed, frankly bc fall sucks when we’re just a punching bag for jokes like this year, but i won’t expect it

Yes, we should never believe that the man who made an offer sheet to the hired coach was the one who, in all actuality, made that hire.

That would be a very, very silly thing to believe.

You’ve made it very clear that you’re perfectly fine with the current product on the field and that you don’t think it’s possible for the program to ever be better than what it is now.

I couldn’t disagree more with that stance, but people can decide for themselves how they want to root for the team and I shouldn’t really be trying to convince them otherwise.
I don’t think that heelin is saying he’s happy being 4-7 this season.

There are very few certainties in life but I feel like it has to be an almost certainty that both of those men would not be in Chapel Hill together at the same time. Go may be our QB next year, or Chip may be our OC, but it ain’t gonna be both lol

You mean the offer sheet that caused Lee and UNC legal to fly to Massachusetts on Dec. 8th and spend the day renegotiating because Preyer had made promises that UNC could not keep? Or the offer that caused Hans to publicly rebuke Preyer and make the BoT even more impotent than it already was?

I could have sent an offer sheet to Lombardi on December 5th, too, and it would have been just as effective at hiring Bill as Preyer/Evans' little fiasco was.

The Chancellor and the BOT never should have tried to interfere and go behind Bubba to get Belichick in the first place.
The Chancellor didn't go behind Bubba. Those two were in lockstep throughout the process. They flew together to New York on Dec 5th to negotiate with Bill and flew to New Orleans on Dec. 7th to interview Jon Sumrall (who then got wind of the Bill stuff and withdrew his name the next day).

It was Preyer and Evans that were going around Bubba because they thought he was too "traditional" and not "out of the box" enough for their tastes.

Every version I've heard of the hiring process from those who are close to the folks on the BOT and defensive of the hire (aka the folks I disagree with but am still close to) say "Preyer only got involved when Bubba fucked it all up". I never hear a mention of Roberts in those tellings...and those are the folks defending the hire so I'm not sure why they would have it twisted. I truly have no idea, but based on their take I've always thought that Preyer was the main driving force who put everyone in the position of not having much choice.

We got no idea if it was a dumb hire. Time will tell. Meantime looks like UNC has flipped Da Ron Parks 6-5 350 kis from FSU. 3 star but had offer from tOSU. This kid was not on radar at all and not included in dins story about Thanksgiving feast. Kids just keep signing up with BB and Lombo.

Can't deny they are racking up solid recruits

Preyer certainly did everything in his power to sway hearts and minds. He locked in on Belichick in November and did all he could to force the hire. But the Snoop view gives far too little agency to the actual decision makers and too much power to the shit disturbers.
