Sexual violence should be a red line, agreed. But High’s offense (or the rumor of it going around) was non-consensual filming of consensual sex iirc. I wouldn’t call that violence exactly. And I don’t think the team was wrong to try to rehab him, although these days there is no shame and no standards for criminality so who knows.
You know what, I might have gotten High confused with Jalek Felton, which I believe was actual sexual assault. The thing with High is bad enough, but definitely doesn’t need unnecessary embellishment, and is certainly more of a “correctable” thing. I do agree with the notion that he probably should not continue to have the privilege of playing basketball for Carolina or remaining a student at the same university at which the person he filmed resides.

I watched the reaction YouTube video from IC with Tommy Ashley and Jason Staples and I guess one silver lining is Patreno will most likely also be coaching the QBs directly
Half of IC is going to be convinced by March that he’s going to turn Newkirk into the next Lamar Jackson.

In all seriousness, I think we should deploy every available resource at our disposal to make sure we have a killer OL. I trust Petrino to be able to make somewhat palatable chicken salad out of the chicken shit that may be our current quarterback situation. But if we don’t completely overhaul our OL, this whole experiment is all but mercifully over anyway.

I don't want Carolina to be a "win at all costs" program. But if we're sure Petrino will be here longer that he was at UNLV under Barry Odom then i'm happy with this hire.

Great offensive mind
Familiar with some of the staff already
QB guru - from statues to Lamar Jackson
College experience with varying talent levels like SEC, ACC, Missouri St -- BB needs all the "college world" help he can get.

I hate the who/how/why process of the BB hire (but if they'd hired a Saint it would be an afterthought), I don't like BB's personality (they can't all be Dean Smith though), I'm skeptical of the Freddie hire, the Matt Lombo and Michael Lombo hires, skeptical of the personnel decisions on the field this yr, but i still think there's good opportunity for UNC to reboot it's fball culture right now under BB - but they gotta fix the offense ASAP and Petrino seems like a good person to do that. It's a gamble but I don't feel like we're selling our soul to the devil.... yet.

legally both situations qualify as sexual assault. IIRC felton was lying to women about using protection, so if we're allowing for personal subjectivity, that might not have been "actual" sexual assault, either.

High - secretly filming himself having sex and showing it to a friend (which then got back to the girl)
Felton - not telling the girl he had herpes

So you *do* want Carolina to be a “win at all costs” program.

I don't think BB is slime. The age difference and deflate-gate don't bother me.

Lombo feels like a used car salesman, but that doesn't make him morally corrupt. A few parents have said bad things about him, but i think this is expected under any regime change, and i'm withholding judgement til actual facts come out.

Petrino has treated past employers wrongly (and this kinda bothers me), but I don't care about mistresses. But it's a sport. These people aren't running charities or churches or hospitals or education systems.... nothing meaningful on this planet once kids are beyond HS imo. I also don't care about hiding vehicle accidents...

Well, if nothing else, the powers-that-be at UNC seem determined to draw together some of the most ridiculed, hated, and sleazy aging football coaches in the land into one spot. Between Belichick's cheating scandals with the Patriots and famously grumpy, difficult attitude, and now his much-ridiculed fling with Jordon, and Petrino's clown show extramarital love life and sleazy used car salesman personality we're collecting quite a crew here. Of course if we can turn things around and start winning next year I'm sure that most will say it was all worth it to tarnish UNC's reputation. As for myself I'll keep pulling for our players and school, but I don't think I can ever stomach pretending to like or support or care for either of their old asses, Petrino even more so than Belichick.

query who/what would be a bridge too far if you can so easily make excuses for what we have already.

The story I heard about High was that he filmed the encounter, the girl noticed, he originally denied it, but then admitted to it and she made him delete the video with no one else seeing it.
Except he didn't delete it and shared it with others, and she found out. That is why it became a Title IX issue and why she was so mad at him being on the b-ball team this year.
