Heels get OLineman Shaq McRoy. Well named at 6-8, 344, that is huge. Former 4 star who went to oregon intially. Top 100 guy. Played some at Arkansas this year for Petrino. Had three years left. Obviously followed Petrino. Lot to l ike about this one, position of need, size, fact he followed Petrino.

Hopefully he’ll fare better than McVay from Alabama did.

Unfortunately the OL Shaq McRoy is another guy with very limited experience. We can only carry so many projects. Wish we had more proven contributors signed. Still worried. On the plus side its obvious Petrino vouches for him with first-hand knowledge. Also, he had a 1 yard rushing TD last season so Petrino must like his versatility?

I like to think petrino wanting him is good sign. Has 3 years.

Big get today. Derek McDonald who played a lot fur Syracuse will play a sixth season at lb fur the heels. Lots of experience at position of need. Need some more lineman and damn I wish we would add to RB room.

Not to be a broken record, but this signing comes with his fair share of warts as well. Pros are lots of experience, his coaches call him a leader, position of need. Cons are that he wasn't a starter on a Syracuse defense that was one of the worst in all of college football and he's coming off a season-ending hip injury and subsequent surgery.

Not saying he won't be successful and that he can't help this team (I'm sure he can), but with the limited amount of transfers we're taking compared to the number of holes we need to fill in the 2-deep we really can't afford to miss on any of these evaluations. And projecting production after season-ending injuries feels more akin to speculation than evaluation. Fingers crossed.
