“2nd most watched bowl game not counting the three playoff games….”

That’s amazing!

TAMU’s highest ranking since 1939……that’s amazing!

An Orange Bowl after an 11-0 season back in the ‘70’s or ‘80’s would have been impressive. That’s EARNING a berth in a major bowl.

If losing the Orange Bowl to a mediocre program like TAMU is a celebratory high-water mark for UNC, we should just shut down the football “program.”
Zoo, we aren't shutting down the football program. For your mental health, I'd propose you'd switch allegiance to an SEC team, perhaps UGA.

I first attended a UNC football game in the ‘60’s in an absolute DOWNPOUR and the Heels beat #7 Florida.

I remember Don McCauley running all over d00k and the Paul Miller bootleg…..

I remember Kelvin Bryant’s 5 TD’s…..

I remember LT breaking the Michigan’s QB’s leg in the first quarter…..clean hit….broken leg….game-changing play…..

It was a nice bowl, but i cant believe people boast about it. We lost 4 games that yr and ended up not beating a single team that was ranked in the final top 25. Im not fooled.

The last 5 pages of this thread were highly entertaining. Much bellyaching over plays, players, play calling, the refs, the coaches, the sideline garb, interspersed at regular intervals by giddy updates from Snoop with TOUCHDOWN, HEELS!! FG, HEELS!! INT, HEELS!! HEELS WIN!!

Apparently, you’ve watched 60 years of meaningless games between meaningless teams.

Agree that he'll say this even if he is planning to retire, partly to reassure recruits and partly to keep the momentum going that they've built over the last few games. Before this recent winning streak I thought he was gone for sure (and to be honest I didn't expect to win any of the recent games, except maybe for the Wake game), but I think it now all comes down to the State game, ironically. If UNC finally beats State this year and breaks their recent losing streak then I think he might well stay for another year, but if they lose then I still think he'll retire after the season (bowl game) is over.

Just want to point out that this is just an aggregated 247 article with no substance based on a radio show call in where Mack said he was planning to come back (of course he’s not going to announce his retirement that way). Last season when this same speculation was ramping up, I think I remember that IC was the source that made a much more official announcement that he would be back. So while this headline definitely isn’t great news, it’s far from an ironclad confirmation.

Also, the fact that we have to sit through this same cycle of speculation about Mack’s future year after year in the first place just underscores how completely ridiculous the whole situation is.
