And im telling you as someone who has worked in UNC athletics and has season tickets to UNC football, basketball, and baseball that Duke is only seen as a rivalry game in basketball of the 3 major men's sports from our perspective. Do I hate to lose to them? Absolutely! But it's no more of a rivalry game than playing East Carolina and only slightly more interesting than playing Wake Forest. It's not a game anyone in Chapel Hill circles on a calendar for anything other than basketball.

Go to a UNC/NC State football game or baseball series and compare the environment and overall stress level.

I have no idea what you mean.

Also, I wasn't stating my background as any sort of a brag...just giving perspective. I don't doubt that you could buy me and nor does that matter for my point. Duke isn't really a rivalry game for Carolina in football. Rivalry games are those that everyone circles on the calendar at the beginning of the season. The very fact that we are playing each other in September makes the point that it isn’t a terribly important game. I don't mean that to demean. It's just the reality of the thing.

Yeah. Duke is our main rival in Olympic and basketball. State in football and baseball. But they are both our top two rivals overall - with Virginia and Wake well behind both.

Of course, we are the number 1 rivals overall for all four (well, UVA probably sees Tech as a bigger rival in football).
