Theory re: Luka: Educational Policy Committee met last Thursday. They decided in favor of Luka's transripts. This was passed along to the Faculty Executive Committee which met today from 3:00 to 4:30. Thay agreed and got the message over to Coach Davis.

KU had a very similar outcome in their game against Green Bay last night. Their fresh phenom, Darryn Peterson, had a strong game and their center (Bidunga) overwhelmed the undermanned GB interior.

Other than Peterson, KU was cold from three, hopefully that keeps up in Chapel Hill.

Separately, though, BYU did not play like a top 10 team in a neutral court game against unranked Villanova. Nov is picked middle of the pack this season in the Big East but while BYU led most of the way, they could never put them away and Nova retook the lead just under 8 minutes left in the game. Dybansta led the way for BYU but missed a bunch of FTs.

Don’t get me wrong, it was a solid win for BYU, but they just don’t look like a top 10 team at the moment — they are more or less a three-man team on offense + Keita (who dominated inside against UNC but had a more modest impact against Nova) with cleanup duty on the offensive boards. Not saying the exhibition loss at BYU is more concerning, and we did get a lot out of the game, just saying that I came away feeling we need to be more circumspect about the quality of our opponent in that matchup. But that is what exhibition are for.

BYU missed 15+ layups and shot 29% from 3. Only 4 turnovers though

I think they are a good team and eventually will have one of the strongest lineups in the country

The problem so far, which we saw in the scrimmage, is zero production from the bench

I think at least some of the early season expectations (besides AJ, Wright) was the supposed depth

Insane to think that it’s been more than two decades- 23 years, in fact- since we last beat Kansas in basketball. I was in middle school. We beat them in the Preseason NIT at the beginning of Doherty’s final season. Since then we’ve lost to them in 2008 (Final Four), 2012 (Elite 8), 2013 (Second Round), 2022 (Championship Game), and 2024 (reg. season).

I think we get it done Friday night in front of a great Smith Center crowd.

Heels 84, ‘Hawks 80

A whiteout?

WTF?

UNC has the greatest, most distinctive color in sports and we’re doing a whiteout?

Why?

Do a Carolina Blueout.

The Roy Williams curse.

Worth it to get Ol' Roy back though.

BYU scrimmage should have helped prepare a little for Kansas. Defensively at least, with a similar profile big and explosive athlete in AJ

KU a very different team on the defensive side though. Will be keeping an eye on Kyan and the guards early in how they initiate

Need Veesaar to play smart and not foul which he seems to do. Big opportunity for High to show something

what will the excuses be if we lose to a borderline top 25 ku? the refs? the rw curse? just a fanbase full of excuses as to why our bb program has fallen so far. need to start winning these types of games starting tomorrow night.
