Congrats to Drake Powell going in the first round to Brooklyn.
UNC hasn’t had a first round pick since 2021 (dook had three in the top 10 just tonight).

So happy for him! He's the first player from Pittsboro and Chatham County to be drafted in the NBA (according to his, and my kid's, high school Facebook page).
Wow! Impressed you can pull all those names out so quickly!Has to be. When I think back to Chathamites who have been successful hoopers this achievement stands alone.
Robert Siler played at Wake Forest.
Terrence Newby played at UNC.
There was a 7-footer from Siler City that played at Stetson (Steve _________). Big man from Pittsboro Tyrone Edwards played at ECU and Chatham Central center Melvin Palmer played at NC A&T.
My friend John Phillips coached both.Has to be. When I think back to Chathamites who have been successful hoopers this achievement stands alone.

Doing less with more since...So dook had 3 players taken in the top 10 and didn't win the NATTY? Last team to do that was.....dook in 2019 with Reddish, Zion and Barrett.
I'll add that Chuck Snipes from Siler City played at UNCG.
And this is Chuck's son making one of the most amazing shots ever in college basketball.
