Bro was so annoyed with me last year. PS. I don’t post on IC anymore as my account lapsed and I didn’t renew but uhh.. I can still view their content and that DeanESmithCenter guy seems like he’s full of shit based on the fact that I know what I’m talking about often.
What was he annoyed about (if you’re okay with answering)?

IC called it a failed season and a failed coaching performance. Said nearly every loss the team had was a coaching issue.

Oh for fucks sake. None of us give a single fuck about what IC says about the game or Coach Davis. Their shitty game analysis was likely from some LLM chatbot that churned out the heaping pile of rhino shit you thought was relevant but isn't. Moreover, their "opinion" of the coaching isn't worth a damn either because, well, and this is well known, they didn't like Coach Davis from the beginning so...fuck them and their shitty reactionist thoughts because they have zero clue what the fuck they're talking about in this area. None of us do...

There's a reason why we're here and NOT there anymore so stop bringing their shit here! That goes for this and your 37 aliases.

By the way, @Rock, sorry about this NCAAT. I know you have two teams you love and are connected to— two teams that usually perform quite well in the NCAAT— and they are now both out. I’m guessing that’s a first in your lifetime that both of those teams are out in the first round. Not saying that to make you feel bad. I just feel bad for you because I’m not nearly as connected to the Heels as you are to them or to KU, and it’s definitely a huge bummer for me.

It feels like you're mad at IC for other reasons, too.

Guess you don't care why they have struggled all season getting behind so much to good teams and why they have struggled for 2 and 3/4 seasons.

I'll bet you'd complain if they hanged you with new rope. Sometimes I'd like to verify that.

You've been making the same tired complaints for four years. Nobody cares what you think and nobody respects your recreational basketball knowledge of the game. I'll stipulate that you feel aggrieved and abused because UNC basketball is not good enough for you anymore if you'll stfu.

You seem to have anger issues. It's not that serious. No need to get personal and crazy when just talking about basketball. The whole point of this forum is to discuss topics and give opinions, and this thread is for people to discuss Carolina basketball, which I and others are doing. Are you actually going to discuss it or just attack others? And my knowledge is more than just recreational.

I have annoyance issues since you're such a Johnny One Note. Why don't you address the fact that we made 14 of 27 layups and dunks or how at the end of the game the offense got Powell that wide open three that he missed? Oh, you can 't pin that on the coaching, although I'm sure you'll try.

Yes, everybody admits that we screwed up in the portal. Everybody admits that we need to recruit for leadership as well. We established that 25 games ago. You still bring it up every game like that could be changed at this point. No, it wasn't a vintage year because of it. Otoh, the team didn't give up and they kept improving. More to the point, I'm still a fan of the program and you're a fan of Carolina's success so you can bask in reflected glory.

They had a pattern all season getting down big early to good teams. That points to being unprepared and that's on coaching. The offense that doesn't fit the team and players he has to maximize their chance at winning is coaching. If you can't see that coaching is an issue then you really don't know much about basketball.

And the comment about just being a fan of their success is bull. You have no idea what kind of fan I am. I have been a fan since I can remember at 4 years old. Yes, I am used to seeing the program win and do well. A fan can cheer for the team and also be critical of how things are going with the program. Right now I think it's going in the wrong direction and has been mediocre to bad more often than not the past 4 years. Also, I'm not the only one here that has been saying the same thing.

I really don't get this line of thinking. It reminds me of football commentators who say that false start penalties are 100% on the coaches. I mean, really? The coaches aren't teaching guys not to false start? Schemes are on the coaches. You could maybe say certain techniques are on the coaches (e.g. are we teaching DBs not to look for the ball). But false start penalties? Those are on the players.

Similarly, do you think Hubert is telling the guys, "don't worry about preparing for the game. Just show up, we'll roll the ball out, and get going"? I don't have any insight as to what coaches do or don't do in pregame, but I have a strong intuition that Hubert is doing just fine. At some point, the players have to be able to bring the intensity. At some point, it's on the players to play with purpose, effort and a clear head from tipoff, not just in the second half.

If you want to criticize the offensive scheme, that's clearly a choice by the coaches. But the team not being ready to go at tipoff, repeatedly, seems more like a player problem than a coach problem. And maybe this is what people mean when they say there's a leadership deficit on the team.

The coaches are 100% responsible for false starts. There is a reason why certain coaches have far fewer false start penalties than other coaches.

Folks don't say that when there's one or two false starts, penalties, etc. They say that when there are several such penalties - and that is because coaches definitely do practice fundamentals like that, constantly, from Pop Warner up to the NFL. Going back to UNC, if the sluggish, unmotivated, unprepared, starts where infrequent then you wouldn't see people calling out HD/staff for that - just like no one called out Roy/staff's coaching for the way they came out against KU in 08. It's the repeated slow starts against decent (or better) teams, over years of HD/staff tenure, that points to their inability to get their teams ready to play.
