So...the #1 fan gets the job? Thats unserious.

Hubert is a good man and a great Heel... most people wanted it to work out, but the program is falling behind and no team greatness in sight.
I'm not sure that your belief that replacing Hubert is going to keep UNC from falling behind. That's not a given. It could get worse.
With 2d year Mac Jones as QB. Almost as impressive as sneaking into the NCAAT and getting blown out by Ole Miss

It is extremely annoying you are making me defend Bill Belichick of all people.
Why are you defending him? He was a great coach when he had a great QB close to 10 years ago. He's now a dude in his mid-70's with a 24 year old GF helping him call the shots who doesn't seem all that interested in what he's currently doing.

There is still a lot of season to go but unless UNC hits a big downturn, I don’t think any program in the country would fire their coach after this season. This presumes that UNC perhaps splits with Duke and has some mild postseason success at the minimum.

Just my thoughts.

There are four seasons before this.

If by mild post-season success you mean Sweet 16, I'd agree with you. But I don't think a Round of 32 exit and a split with Duke is enough, especially if we are not at least a 4 seed.

Of course. Thank you.

The word I heard from some insiders is Hubert is gone and the old gym is history. They’ll be building a new one. Roy’s campaign to save DES Center is toast. Just like Hubert. It’s basically FF at the very least or bust for Coach Davis.

The problem with this is we have 6 of our toughest 10 games left, the narrative can definitley change if we struggle

I believe the part about the arena, but I can’t imagine any decision has been made on Hubert. Making a FF run a criterion for him to keep his job after this season seems extreme.

Completely agree. I meant that if they play as they are, meaning beat Virginia but yes lost two in California, that likely means they win some and lose some. I know my post sounds vague but I’m more saying, I don’t see many programs firing their coach if they’re a 4 seed or better and have some post season success with whatever résumé gets you a four seed or better.

Was there a vent involved?

It's a tough spot for sure. As you see some have decided they want Hubert gone and there isn't much that could happen to change their minds.

Winning 71% of your games is a good record, but UNC fans expect better, they feel entitled to it. Hubert has not delivered what they deem an acceptable result for UNC hoops. I understand them feeling that way but struggle with ferocity they bring to this topic. Tonight's game is a good example.

If Hubert gets fired that will not be a good thing for Tar Heel basketball or the university itself.

Again, it's a tough spot. I chose to err on the side of the man and just shake my head and those who get bent out of shape by it.

You are an adult.

I don't mean this to start an argument but as a genuine question; do you think we're a 4 seed or better as it stands right now?

I think they would have to split with Duke at least and win the rest of their games and then get into the semi final of the ACC tournament to be a 4 or higher. Everyone else on the schedule besides Duke is ranked lower than them, so if they lose to anyone else it's going to drop them to a 5 or 6 seed.

For the record, I am able to be dispassionate about this conversation and honestly look at it from a pretty removed viewpoint. Which is why I am saying I don’t see a lot of programs firing their coach if the season ends with a top 15 ranking and a four seed or better.

If Carolina beats Duke once and wins some of these hard games, I think that’s good enough for a four seed or better?

But, I am aware that they could get swept by Duke and lose most of the upcoming games and that perhaps does it.

We’ll find out a bit on Saturday.

I'm not a Hubert fan but I think this has been a great season outside of the shameful defensive lapses on the west coast trip. I'm reserving judgment on his future for the time being. I'm very happy we got a one and done that actually looks like one for future recruiting and wasn't wasted like Drake Powell.
