CF said we need to win all games left but can lost to dook and then get acc semis to be top 4 seed. Read backward. I am off a game. My point is if we go 8-1 and then 1-1 in acc we will be top 4. BTW 8-1 plus 5 is 14. So your math off 2 games.

If we go 8-1 and lose in the ACCT semis, we will have a darn good chance at a top 2-3 seed, depending what happens with everyone else. That would likely get our metrics into top 15 and our AP rank into top 10.

That’s fair. And I agree that it’s an unfortunate position for the team to be in where the coach is perennially on the bubble but… c’est la vie. I know in sports everyone wants their team to fire the coach and hire Phil Jackson but reality is a little more complicated.

That got us in Stanford and SMU. And almost got us against Wake. It went the other way against Cal.

And in all the other games, we had such big leads, it really didn't matter. This Syracuse game really skews that stat.

I didn't see that post, but I agree with you and not @CarolinaFever. State and Louisville are ahead of us in KenPom and Miami and Clemson are right behind us. If we sweep all of them plus beat Duke, we will be in a sweet spot in the metrics and the polls.

Maybe you should read my post then. I said if they lose a couple more games to anyone but Duke and don't make a run in the ACC tournament they will not be a top 4 seed. Of course they could be if they at least split with Duke and don't lose to anyone else.

That's not what I said. Maybe you should read again and not be the idiot. I said if they lose to a couple of games to anyone but Duke they probably aren't going to be a 4 or better. They would have to probably at least split with Duke and not lose a couple of more games to get to a 4 seed.

Agree, if we’re assuming we get swept by dookies, and lose 3 other games including one in the ACCT. That would put us at 9 losses for the season with no W against d00k. Not sure we would deserve anything much better than a 5 seed in that scenario, so that’s not really saying much.
 
I got to be honest with y'all. We came into this season with one player, Trimble, who we pretty much knew what to expect. I was prepared for a truly dismal season. We've ended up with the best balanced team that we've had since Hubert has been here. It's also a team that has steadily improved with players like Dixon, Powell and Stephenson continuing to step up their game. Y'all are just seeing something I'm not if you haven't seen great improvement in where we started , where we are and where we're likely to end up. I guess I didn't grow up with the same sense of privilege. I look at success at the highest level as a gift and not a birthright. If we fire Hubert because he falls short of the Final Four or even the Elite Eight, we'll have turned ourselves into just another win at all costs program. Fool that I am, that's not what I've appreciated the most about UNC basketball.

Rant over for now.

Here is what you said exactly: "I think they would have to split with Duke at least and win the rest of their games and then get into the semi final of the ACC tournament to be a 4 or higher."

Rhere are 9 games in regular season. If we split with dook and win the rest of the games, and then make semis, which requires two wins, that is a finish of 10-2. That is what you said we need to do to get 4 or higher. Perhaps you wrote it poorly. I do not know.

But if that is what you meant, and you are arguing it is not, then it is an idiot take.

Yes to all of this, and I really believe this is how the vast majority of UNC grads (not fans) feel about the situation. There is so much to suggest Hubert is growing into this job (last seven minutes last night, notwithstanding). Recruiting, getting Wilson, getting Adams, poised to get Mingo, development of players, in-game coaching switching some D's, better rotations, baskets after TOs, low turnovers, etc.
This Elite Eight or Final Four or bust is just dumb IMO.
