Uh, 10-2 would be 9 regular season games and 3 ACCT games. We have 9 games left in regular season. Are you assuming we go 8-1 and then somehow have five ACCT games? How do you get 10-2?

Damn, math gets me again.Uh, 10-2 would be 9 regular season games and 3 ACCT games.
CF said we need to win all games left but can lost to dook and then get acc semis to be top 4 seed. Read backward. I am off a game. My point is if we go 8-1 and then 1-1 in acc we will be top 4. BTW 8-1 plus 5 is 14. So your math off 2 games. We have 9 games left in regular season. Are you assuming we go 8-1 and then somehow have five ACCT games? How do you get 10-2?
If we go 8-1 and lose in the ACCT semis, we will have a darn good chance at a top 2-3 seed, depending what happens with everyone else. That would likely get our metrics into top 15 and our AP rank into top 10.CF said we need to win all games left but can lost to dook and then get acc semis to be top 4 seed. Read backward. Totally agree. Not even close. That is my point. If we go 8-1 and lose in the ACCT semis, we will have a darn good chance at a top 2-3 seed, depending what happens with everyone else. That would likely get our metrics into top 15 and our AP rank into top 10.
If we win out, dropping only one game to Duke then we’ll move up in the metrics for sure.Kind of proves my point. If we go 9-1 against that schedule we move up. Thanks for posting.
That’s fair. And I agree that it’s an unfortunate position for the team to be in where the coach is perennially on the bubble but… c’est la vie. I know in sports everyone wants their team to fire the coach and hire Phil Jackson but reality is a little more complicated. If we can get a 4 seed, I think Hubert is probably safe with a split and round of 32, but I wouldn't feel great going into next year -- it would be another year with the Sword of Damocles over his head. It would help everyone if he could put a run together here and win out, or at least win at all but Duke. If he could pull that off, it would get us back to that good post-Kansas buzz.
That got us in Stanford and SMU. And almost got us against Wake. It went the other way against Cal.From Greg: “UNC has been outscored by 41 points in the final 10 minutes of its nine ACC games. It's been outscored during that final quarter in seven of those nine games.”
Here is CFs post I have been referring to. It is an idiotic take.I think they would have to split with Duke at least and win the rest of their games and then get into the semi final of the ACC tournament to be a 4 or higher. Everyone else on the schedule besides Duke is ranked lower than them, so if they lose to anyone else it's going to drop them to a 5 or 6 seed.
I didn't see that post, but I agree with you and not @CarolinaFever. State and Louisville are ahead of us in KenPom and Miami and Clemson are right behind us. If we sweep all of them plus beat Duke, we will be in a sweet spot in the metrics and the polls. Here is CFs post I have been referring to. It is an idiotic take.
If they lose to a couple of teams besides Duke and don't make a run in the ACC tournament they will not be a top 4 seed based on their body of work this season. Here is CFs post I have been referring to. It is an idiotic take.
Maybe you should read my post then. I said if they lose a couple more games to anyone but Duke and don't make a run in the ACC tournament they will not be a top 4 seed. Of course they could be if they at least split with Duke and don't lose to anyone else.I didn't see that post, but I agree with you and not @CarolinaFever. State and Louisville are ahead of us in KenPom and Miami and Clemson are right behind us. If we sweep all of them plus beat Duke, we will be in a sweet spot in the metrics and the polls.
That's not what I said. Maybe you should read again and not be the idiot. I said if they lose to a couple of games to anyone but Duke they probably aren't going to be a 4 or better. They would have to probably at least split with Duke and not lose a couple of more games to get to a 4 seed.It won't happen so we won't know. But by your scenario we have wins at state, Miami, home against Clemson, lville and dook and all W's in other games and we drop? You do realize other teams like us will be playing and some losing as well. This is idiot take.
Ummm, that's the same thing I said.CF said we need to win all games left but can lost to dook and then get acc semis to be top 4 seed. Read backward. I am off a game. My point is if we go 8-1 and then 1-1 in acc we will be top 4. BTW 8-1 plus 5 is 14. So your math off 2 games.
Agree, if we’re assuming we get swept by dookies, and lose 3 other games including one in the ACCT. That would put us at 9 losses for the season with no W against d00k. Not sure we would deserve anything much better than a 5 seed in that scenario, so that’s not really saying much.If they lose to a couple of teams besides Duke and don't make a run in the ACC tournament they will not be a top 4 seed based on their body of work this season.
Yes, if that happens 4 seed at worst.10-2...you're saying we go 8-1 to end the regular season and then 2-1 in the ACCT?
I’m glad you came out of the coma you were in for the 2023-2024 season. We've ended up with the best balanced team that we've had since Hubert has been here.
Here is what you said exactly: "I think they would have to split with Duke at least and win the rest of their games and then get into the semi final of the ACC tournament to be a 4 or higher."That's not what I said. Maybe you should read again and not be the idiot. I said if they lose to a couple of games to anyone but Duke they probably aren't going to be a 4 or better. They would have to probably at least split with Duke and not lose a couple of more games to get to a 4 seed.
Yes to all of this, and I really believe this is how the vast majority of UNC grads (not fans) feel about the situation. There is so much to suggest Hubert is growing into this job (last seven minutes last night, notwithstanding). Recruiting, getting Wilson, getting Adams, poised to get Mingo, development of players, in-game coaching switching some D's, better rotations, baskets after TOs, low turnovers, etc.I got to be honest with y'all. We came into this season with one player, Trimble, who we pretty much knew what to expect. I was prepared for a truly dismal season. We've ended up with the best balanced team that we've had since Hubert has been here. It's also a team that has steadily improved with players like Dixon, Powell and Stephenson continuing to step up their game. Y'all are just seeing something I'm not if you haven't seen great improvement in where we started , where we are and where we're likely to end up. I guess I didn't grow up with the same sense of privilege. I look at success at the highest level as a gift and not a birthright. If we fire Hubert because he falls short of the Final Four or even the Elite Eight, we'll have turned ourselves into just another win at al costs program. Fool that I am, that's not what I've appreciated the most about UNC basketball.
Rant over for now.
