Boasberg ain't fucking around either. He's going to appoint a prosecutor himself if the government won't do it.

Problem: Trump cannot pardon civil contempt but he can pardon criminal contempt. One wonders if Boasberg will go with civil in the end, if it gets there, though he's probably talking about criminal to scare some folks.

Lots of detail in the opinion about the bad faith actions of the government (and why they can be held in criminal contempt even though SCOTUS subsequently determined that the habeas hearing should have been in a different venue).

I've been slow to follow the abrego Garcia story. I just heard the now infamous White House questions by CNN.

If what was said is true, the only mistake was sending him to his home country, right? 2 quarts had determine him in a member of MS-13, he was already in process of being deported, her two quarts, but he was supposed to go somewhere besides El Salvador?

At this point, the US has no power to get him back from El Salvador... Because it is a citizen of El Salvador?

The Supreme Court ruled that, should El Salvador offer to return him, the US has to provide an airplane to do so.

Maybe I'm just being callous, but this seems like a giant nothing burger.

Serious question -

With all the excellent sources of information that NYC and myriad other posters bring to this board - literally dozens of links to in-depth analysis every day- how are you this badly uninformed?

What does your news diet look like?

Even if you ignore the obvious authoritarianism, I will go to my grave perplexed how any body who isn't a hardcore republican voted for him. He's walking chaos. There was no mystery this election.
That's what many of his supporters think they want - chaos, as in just burning the whole system down and starting over from scratch, with their side completely in charge and thus able to create a new system that they will control and dominate (even though they dominate our current system, many of them seem convinced that sinister "deep state" forces are somehow still in control and working against them). They've convinced themselves that he will restore blue-collar jobs by the millions and their dying towns will magically spring back to life, and that all of the chaos he's causing will never affect them personally. And that last part is key - they simply don't think he'll ever hurt his supporters, that he really cares about them (snort) and will not cut their jobs or cause them any harm.

The majority of it came from this video - beginning at 17:00

Boasberg appears to be the trigger agent for the “let’s just get on with this” that I think is inevitable. I hope he’s successful. I suspect he will not be.

A man in the breach of a failing system of governance.
