The U.S. struck another alleged drug vessel Tuesday night, this time on the Pacific side of South America, according to two U.S. officials.

In what is the eighth known U.S. attack on a boat since Sept. 2, two to three individuals aboard the vessel were killed. The other seven strikes targeted vessels in the Caribbean.

So wait, what nationalities were the people on that boat? Venezuela does not have a Pacific coast.

The fig leaf the administration was using as a justification that there was a single specific (Venezuelan) organization that was named as a terrorist organization.

No were at "We get to blow up anyone anywhere in any international waters as long as we say they have an unspecified narcoterroist affiliation? That's a breathtaking expansion of scope that feels very deliberate.

This is all heading somewhere very, very ugly.

I hope it's leading to war crimes charges against Trump and Hegseth. Because that's what this is.
 
How much of this is:
a - St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago being truly distressed that illegal drugs are destroying a huge swath of America that is barely holding on even without being swamped by drugs?
(or)
b - St. Donald is pissed, pissed I tell you, at how much money is being transferred due to the illegal drug trade without him even getting a taste of that money and he will not let such disrespect go unpunished?

I think it's more that St. Donald wants to use his unfettered power to blow up people who he knows his base will find entirely unsympathetic. It's killing brown people for sport.

He has seemed to be legitimately concerned about drugs for a long time.

anyone/everyone who is legitimately concerned about drugs knows that to decrease supply you have to decrease demand.

nothing about this is decreasing demand.

I didn't say what he's doing is the best approach. I said he's seems to legitimately care about stopping drugs into the US.

OK, a) shooting brown people for sport or b) sending a message to some lower-level criminal that he can't do business on your turf unless he gives you "a taste."

Even if it isn't having much of an impact, his history of trying to address the issue shows that he does legitimately care.
