What was it that got Trump pissed off at Bibi? Wasn't it something childish and stupid (typical for Trump) about Bibi calling to congratulate Biden? Trump was still denying results, well he is to this day.

Not in the USA but didn’t want to inject politics in the sports discussion of the Olympics thread.

Good for them. Stopping Israel's genocide is more important than a sporting event. Folks should shame Israel (and the US) on the world stage every chance they get. Israel certainly isn't going to stop the murdering on their own.

The IDF attack on Hamas has been crude and not discriminate enough...and Bibi has used it to remain in power. However, civilian deaths are in a proportional typical of any ordinary war. At this point, military advisors (and majority of people) within Israel want the cease file as they've done as much damage to Hamas as they can currently reasonably do. Biden/Harris and the Arab State coalition (Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudis) are pressuring Bibi to sign the agreement - difficult as it is his political death sentence.

It is a war, not a genocide. A war with an unnecessary amount of collateral damage, but a war nevertheless. The war could have been over months ago had Hamas released the hostages.

I'm not at all convinced that that the war would have been over if Hamas had handed over their hostages. Is Israel just going to say thanks for giving us our people back, let's go back to status quo? Or are they going to keep bombing a bunch of kids hoping that they might hit a Hamas fighter or two?

The hostages and the militarization of Hamas are the primary justifications for the ongoing operations in Gaza. If Hamas had just released them and agreed to a ceasefire, Israel would have had no grounds to continue and US support for the war likely would have completely ceased.

I respectfully disagree. I think its more likely that Israel would have kept bombing Gaza even if Hamas had released their prisoners and agreed to a mutually reasonable ceasefire.

To be fair, Israel has illegally occupied Palestinian lands (including the West Bank) for 57 years, The Palestinan Authority recognized Israel decades ago and has conducted itself on the WB for many years just as the world has urged it to do, Yet Netanyahu and Israel refuse to negotiate and the US by not pressuring Israel essentially enables the illegal Israeli occupation.
What exactly should Palestinians do: praise the occupation and throw rose petals at the feet of their occupoers? Again, folks need to take a walk in the Palestinian's shoes. If this were any other country doing an occupation, the US would be harshly criticizing them and correctly so.
In this conflct's big picture, Israel is equally to blame.

My blame apportionment would be 50% Israel, 25% UN US Great Britain Arab States 25% Palestinians
