I hate state college, but Carolina has 2 wins against them, so the better they play, the better for Carolina's NET.Huge W for State, or a horrible loss by Wake however you want to look at it. Wake is very much a bubble team. Any loss by a bubble team only helps us to get back on the bubble, or helps us in our desire to get into the tourney.
Later if the half, they showed a replay of the Washington foul. What they showed the first time looked like the second contact with the guy. From what I saw (and I only saw it once and didn't get a great look), it might not have been a bad call. I sure didn't like it the first time I saw it. That or something got him some bench time.Very satisfying win today. Double digit victory; covered the spread;
Held Virginia to their season average. Scored over 80pts again. Shot the ball very well, from the floor, 3pt line and the FT line. Dominated the boards and beat an inferior team exactly like they should.
UVa. Was literally given life on 2 totally bogus tech fouls in the first half that helped get them off the snide. Took a little air out of our balloon and gave them 4 pts. The Flag. 1 call on JWash was total bullshit.
Overall a very satisfying win.
washington definitely made contact with mcneeley's face but calling it a flagrant feels harsh. he was making a basketball move, really looked like incidental contact that was above the shoulders because washington is so much taller.Later if the half, they showed a replay of the Washington foul. The tech on Withers was ridiculous. That happens every game and that is the first time I have ever seen a player get a tech for itwashington definitely made contact with mcneeley's face but calling it a flagrant feels harsh. he was making a basketball move, really looked like incidental contact that was above the shoulders because washington is so much taller.
furthermore, both RJ and cadeau got hit in the face in the 2nd half and it was completely ignored both times.
so, selective and subjective enforcement. very little consistency.
Yeah, I don’t have a problem if something like that gets called for a tech, but it never does anymore, so it’s ridiculous to arbitrarily call it. There needs to be a black-and-white rule there. It shouldn’t be left up to the discretion of the ref.The tech on Withers was ridiculous. That happens every game and that is the first time I have ever seen a player get a tech for it
So, I wasn't able to watch, but I recorded it.
It was incidental contact, JWash cannot help that they switched and the guy guarding him is a foot shorter.washington definitely made contact with mcneeley's face but calling it a flagrant feels harsh. he was making a basketball move, really looked like incidental contact that was above the shoulders because washington is so much taller.

State is in danger of not making the ACC Tournament, so I was hoping they would lose just to see that happen (only 15 teams make the ACCT now).I hate state college, but Carolina has 2 wins against them, so the better they play, the better for Carolina's NET.

^^^This exactly. Cory Alexander actually had it right with his first analysis... JWash was simply "getting wide" or "big" while posting up to receive the entry pass - which is exactly how he was taught and as all bigs should do. From what I saw in live action, and again in several replays, JWash did NOT swing an elbow. He simply held up his left arm while receiving the pass. Normally, against another big in the post, that left arm would be around chest height to the opponent. No big deal, but it does provide leverage against his opponent getting a hand on the pass or pushing JWash off of his post positioning. The fact that the defense switched and put a much, much shorter player on him - who was reaching in and trying to deflect the ball - who then "hit" JWash in the arm with his face, caused the contact. Cory explained that perfectly and went on to say that's how basketball used to be played - and called - (should have been a non call IMHO).It was incidental contact, JWash cannot help that they switched and the guy guarding him is a foot shorter.

Of course, this is where is started.
Why is it so hard for these games to be scheduled in such a way that we don't miss the first 5 minutes of a game.
With today's tech they should be able to make the whole game available.Same. Went the whole day without seeing the score. Started the recording up late last night and was pissed. At least they were up...
By far the worst though is when a recording cuts off the end. Has happened to me a few occasions
