Be interesting to see what the professor said. The school says they terminated them for inciting violence.

Definitely don't support someone getting cashiered because they attended or spoke at a socialism conference. If they said something like it's logical to murder politicians to bring about the socialist revolution, that would merit termination in my mind. If the professor, as a historian, said something like the socialist revolution overturning capitalism is almost always achieved through violence, that's trickier but it's certainly true and I don't see how you could fire somebody for stating a fact like that.
Based on this article, it doesn't sound like he was inciting violence to me. I hope he sues and wins.

"In the full speech posted on YouTube, he notes that some anarchists have faced jail time for their methods of protest, praising their efforts but questioning whether they can achieve their goals.

“While their actions are laudable, it should be asked, to what purpose do they serve?” Alter said during his speech, which is not included in the video posted on X. The second portion of his statement is included. “Without organization, how can anyone expect to overthrow the most bloodthirsty, profit-driven, mad organization in the history of the world — that of the United States?”"

“… The Department of Justice’s August demands reach into numerous aspects of campus life and call for the university to make public declarations that it has agreed to significant elements of President Trump’s vision of higher education. In exchange, the government will release roughly half a billion dollars in suspended research grants from the National Institutes of Health and Department of Energy to UCLA. …

See, this one is a little clever but it is not onion quality. Humor depends on brevity and that headline is too long, in my view. The "entire" is ballast and weights down the joke at the outset. "American university system" is a little clunky, though without entire it could stand on its own. But "Entire American University System" strangles the joke. You could put it at the end, like, "new terrorist designations include entire American university system," -- which is not at all good and would not be publishable but I'm using it as an example and spent 15 seconds thinking about it -- making it land as a payload punchline.

The article is even worse. Too wordy and too obvious.

Lots of uncertainly as to how intrusive the trump administration will be...especially since the 'watchdog' angle is increasingly privatized. We've always had the John Locke Foundation/Pope people prowling around classrooms and damning syllabi (especially at Carolina).

For years The Carolina Journal has been following teachers around and writing about their teaching and topics taken up.

This is their latest...

So evidently some Prof at aTm mentioned the word Transgender
And the aTm president did not fire him within 10 minutes (The words of my Atm grad young friend_)
It probably won't happen, but any university that goes after its own professors and takes away academic freedoms should get hammered in all of the usual academic rankings from places like US News. It's hard to claim you're a top-notch academic institution when you censor your faculty, cut departments and funding due to government pressure, and so on. Of course at Texas A&M I doubt they will care about that very much.

Yep. And of course Trumpers are in the process of creating their own accrediting agencies and academic curricula that will simply rubber-stamp whatever they do or want, so they'll likely just come up with their own rating system of universities that will place schools they like at the top. It's what they do.
